Hmm picture link didn't work but yea. Its of my rear drivers rotor. Missing the outside pad. Pads are hawk hp+

Considering I am a male by birth, I've never really had the need for pads so I can't say it's happened to me.

jasonojordan 10-02-2017 06:12 PM

Yea I only wish it was that pad that fell out they are cheaper lol.

Unless the caliper bolt worked its way out and then, under braking with your slotted rotors, the pad got forced out, no.

I will report back on this tonight when I tear into it. But with it on the groud I can reach through my wheel and everything felt tight with the caliper.

How the...? When was the last time the pads were replaced and who did them?

jasonojordan 10-03-2017 08:49 AM

Last time pads were changed was about 30k miles ago.
Was changed by a friend of mine.
I knew the pads were starting to get low (Not to the squeakers yet though)

Pads that were in it were Hawk HP+

I am going to cautiously advise you to not let him anywhere near your car ever again.

I really don't think it was anything he did being the work was done over 30k miles ago but yea.

Also, make sure to look for caliper spread. If the top of the caliper spread enough that the pad could fit between the pistons and the outside of the floating caliper and it didn't have that much friction material left, it would fall out.

At the minimum, I would think you are going to need to rebuild that caliper if the pistons have been contacting the disc.

Let us know.

Pad that fell out is opposite side of caliper piston. That said the piston will still be getting checked over to make sure it has not over extended and is leaking or damaged.
