Anyways, can someone measure their thermal cup? All you guys with normal cups and paper ones are just SOL, that's what you get for being irresponsible with open containers in your car

There is only one thermal cup size?
I personally have no issue with the holder and paper cups. I slop, I wipe it up. Problem solved.

I thought there would be different sizes too but I guess we gotta start somewhere. I don't need this thing so I guess I could just say fuck it and not need with this project

No, by all means help the dude out!
I just think it is hilarious that this is a problem needing a solution.

There seems to be many solutions. I think there may be a market for a cheap fix, say 15$ for an insert that will hold a thermal cup securely.

LOL Atleast I knew my TRD intake wouldnt give me gains, and the vetc is just disappointing IMO. Its honesty cool and nice to have but I was expecting way more from it because to local honda crowd always ravs about it.

See I don't hear about this stuff cuz I don't have friends or a "scene" to be part of. It's pretty quiet here in rural Iowa

Oh man there is a massive car group of atleast 500 of us that meet at the same place every night. Friday and Saturday are the busiest and there is anywhere from 100-200 guys that come out on a given night.

Realizing we've been talking inserts but it looks like someone has done the legwork on an already improved cup/phone holder. This would make a good starting point for one with tailored cup holders. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:603406

Think Starbucks Venti (20 oz) cup here. The holder is larger than the diameter of the cup and since the cup is tall it tends to tip over easily. The cup is 62mm (bottom diameter) / 88mm (top diameter) / 152mm (height).

http://www.completemerchandise.co.uk...per-cup-sizes/

A 16 oz plastic solo cup is 63.5mm bottom diameter, 92.25mm top diameter, and 120.65mm high. These widen out enough they don't really move much in the holder and the largest Starbuck solo cold cup locks in pretty tight.

My prior car, a MKV gti had a cupholder that was 77.35mm diameter at the top and 59mm deep. It tapered slightly toward the bottom but I can't say how much. This cupholder was nearly ideal for paper coffee cups of all sizes.

I don't have my calipers to measure the BRZ cupholder but it's bigger in a non-helpful way.

This is suddenly getting kindof involved but in a good way.

I'll see what I can come up with for the Starbucks cup as I think it will most closely resemble a thermal cup. I'll try to find time to model something useful in the next couple weeks. Maybe part a sketch tomorrow so if anyone else has time they can take a crack at it
