LOL.

Now, I have to learn to use Gas Buddy.

Why is there such a price range for premium ? Does a one dollar difference per
gallon mean the quality of premium at one station is poorer and therefore potentially problematic for your vehicle ?

The Gettys, Shells, and Mobiles all price their premium a good dollar or more above the smaller companies.

I guess it depends on area, in my area shell 93 is at most 40 cents more than normal 87. Minus the 2 DB gas stations on our towns main street that charge 1 dollar more but those are easily avoided.

Southern Ontario Canada here... either Ultra 94, or Shell 91. Ultra 94 is "up to" 10% ethanol, Shell 91 has no ethanol.

Also will be trying putting this in:

Why would you use fuel system cleaner on a new car? it's pretty clean!!

I dunno, I figure it'll be like how Chevron has Techron - the next Arco tank is going to have that cleaner with it lol.

Good point though

The Gettys, Shells, and Mobiles all price their premium a good dollar or more above the smaller companies.
Companies like Shell and Chevron are top tier gas stations which means that in addition to their various marketing products (Chevron with techron/Shell nitrogen enriched gasoline) they add slightly more cleaning detergents to their gasoline so it is supposedly slightly better than some of the no-name, small gas stations like Thrifty and USA gasoline.

***All that should matter is the octane, and as long as you're putting in premium (91 in CA/93+ elsewhere) it should be fine.
(Some exceptions can apply here)

Anecdotally, I have had to use gas from these lesser stations (like USA gasoline) on two occasions in my life (one time I also had to use 87 in a car designed for premium because it was all the station had and I was in the middle of nowhere) and my car ran like crap...sluggish, weird idle, no throttle response....

Most of these off the shelf additives have been proven to be useless... I think if they actually did anything to improve performance or longevity, you'd see manufacturers recommending them. Most of them time, it's the opposite - warnings against using them. Snake oil if you ask me.

Keep your car maintained, use good quality fuel from the top tier retailers, and your car will be just fine.

Nothing but Shell 93 V-power.

For those considered about fuel economy check out my fuelly. I do 100% local driving, not a single mile on the highway. About 50% of my driving is at rush hour too.

I'm having a hard time finding 93, but for now I'm using 91. Trying to find the best price....hess is tempting me, they have the lowest price around me but that makes me question the quality of the gas. I used it on my other car which I didn't plan on keeping but this one is a keeper.
