The explosions would make accidents much more interesting to see or drive past. No more boring run of the mill accidents where you see 2 slightly dented cars pulled over while their owners give a report to the cops. Now the cars would be completely destroyed, news and medical helicopters everywhere, dead/melted bodies all over the sidewalk from people that were too close, etc. It'd basically be a mini Hiroshima.

Flying home tomorrow, Sunday JST. And go back to the past by landing in LA for my stopover around noon Sunday.

Been a whirlwind 3 week trip to Japan. Ready to come home, though.

I agree it's not completely clean, but I'm not of the opinion that we need to reach perfection immediately. I feel it's better to work up to it. Compressed-anything has a lot of challenges, it would be better to overcome those challenges in a shape we already have data for instead of resorting to a blank canvas simply because the improvements aren't dramatic enough

Not unless there was a direct strike on the tanks. There's ways to insulate the tanks somewhat in an accident, not perfect of course, but we're not talking pinto explosions at minor taps.

Imo, it's not much different than the failure modes of lithium batteries. It took a few tries for them to understand that they needed a big tough skidplate to keep road debris from coming up and barbequing the occupants.

There's not a form of energy so far that doesn't have some form of risk. While lithium or hydrogen are less polluting, they aren't any less explosive in a wreck

Excellent! If an accident causes certain death, maybe people would pay more attention. Or die. Either is fine with me.

There's no way in hell people would pay more attention. They're to concerned with what's going on with instantgram or whatever to care about the safety of themselves or other people. The other day I was in a traffic jam and everywhere I looked people were playing with their phones. It was absolutely disgusting...
