I would just start with the supplied tune from Cosworth, but I do have a local tuner who is capable.

I'd stick with the Cosworth tune. I'm not sure I know of any other tuners that have done proper cylinder balancing like Matt et al at Cosworth have carried out in the calibration while they had the engine on the test bench (dyno).

Has anyone looked into using the new Jackson Racing radiator/ oil cooler combo with our supercharger, yet?

@Matt@Cosworth
You guys said the supercharger is rated at ~380 bhp. How much torque do you suspect it will make at maxed out? Recently had to upgrade my clutch which is rated at 315 ft/lb (I still need to daily my car) and wanted to know how it would hold up. Thanks much!

Assuming torque is roughly constant from 4000-7000 rpm, we can assume that we have a somewhat near maximum torque at max horsepower (7000 rpm). Using the equation for torque and horsepower which is: *all unit are in italic* Power = Torque * Rotational Speed Assuming 380 hp at 7000 rpm 380 hp = Torque * (2 * pi rad/rotation) * 7,000 rotation/min Torque = 380 hp / (2 * pi * 7,000 rad/min) Torque = 0.00864 hp min/rad Torque = 0.00864 hp min/rad x 33,000 lbs ft / min hp Torque = 285 lbs ft *Roughly* This is a theoretical value and therefore could be off, but a good assumption nonetheless. I would guess somewhere within 10% up or down from this value is a great guess (256 lbs ft - 313 lbs ft). Your clutch should be just fine IMO. Good luck though |

You know you can just do (HP/RPM)x5252?
I know that's basically what you did, but it's a well enough known equation in car guys heads. No need to show your work here

Peak torque will be a little higher as it peaks at 5500rm and drops off a little before hitting max power. ~300 lbft ball park. Your clutch will be fine Weeder.

It does make it simpler to use, I just tried to show every step of the way in a somewhat educative manner. I do this for a living so it's a habit to show every step. The internets might not need all of that hehe. Thanks As for the peak torque at 5500rpm, it is true but I can't assess hp at 5500rpm. I could use a graph and make an interpolation between the current torque and what it would be with the 380hp upgrade. However I wrote this late last night and just wanted to get a number out there. The torque value should still be within the plus or minus 10% though. |

Haha, yeah, there are a few ways to express it, I wrote one, then went to change it and only changed part of it. I originally wrote HP/(RPM/5252). But HP/RPM x 5252 is better because you can put it right into a calculator without parentheses.
Don't you love when you try to be a smartass and mess it up

Ok, so my first real issue with the supercharger kit. The idler/ tensioner pulley that came with the kit has malfunctioned for some reason and is grinding against the engine block. Not sure why it happened, but I already emailed Cosworth about getting a replacement asap. I think this should be an easy fix, but probably shouldn't drive the car till I get a pulley.
On another note, I wonder if the Raceseng pulley's would work?
