Had to remove my ESC to get a new fuel pump. Only took 20mins to rip it out and flash back to stock before heading to the dealer.
Going back to stock really just reinforced to me how much of a difference the ESC made. E.g. in 6th on the highway going WOT takes me nowhere, have to downshift. Wasn't really an issue with the ESC. Although saying that, I am enjoying keeping it between 4.5-7K RPM when i want to go somewhere. It's definitely significantly slower without the ESC, but no less fun.

Crickets most likely. I brought mine in to get it taken care of again and they guy who was there just started at the Subaru dealership but came from Toyota and said that there is an actual new design in the works and told me just to be patient.

New design? Well, I guess that makes my decision for me. I considered going ahead and having it done before ESC install, but I guess I'll just wait.

I haven't been able to confirm that anywhere, but he did seem to know what he was talking about. He know the various TSBs that I was referencing without looking them up.

I'm not really convinced it's a problem in the sense of possibly leading to engine failure or anything... obviously opinions differ on it, but I can live with the funny sound now and then.

In those 20 minutes, did you remove the battery pack as well? Or just the ESC and related wiring?

Good question. I kept batteries and foot switch but just hid the rest of the wiring, voltmeter, SPM switch etc under the center console.

How long ago was that? I will say that the 1st dealer i took it to said the noise was normal and refused to touch it. This 2nd dealer has been awesome about warranty work and fixing stuff.

That is the same thing I have been led to believe. Officially it has something to do with air in the pump (not in the fuel though). Unofficially it could be air in the pump and lubrication issues that MAY eventually lead to pump degradation. For now, it is just annoying.
