Yeah I never used the stock screws from day one. Installed stainless screws with matching locking washers. Never had an issue, done right the first time! Airaid should have had some forsight on that one, but it's a simple fix

We're sorry you're continuing to have issues with the lid screws backing out. Did you try Loctite as we have suggested? I'm not sure what difference it would make going from hex screws to phillips head screws, but if that worked for you I guess it's all that matters. We have considered including star washers with the lid screws, but some have concerns with the star washers (or similar lock washers) scratching up the anodizing on the lid, hence why we've been recommending blue Loctite.

Why? It will add a little contrast to the color palette LOL.

How often do you get water on the intake box?

I live right off the ocean so any un protected metal tends to rust rather quickly. ill have to try and find a stainless flat washer to put under some star washers to prevent them from scratching the cover.

I still like my Airaid and I think it makes a good noise and makes a little top end power without any issues. Am I the only one left around here with this experience?

I'm with you. No problems other than screws coming loose, but the guys at Airaid always send some out quickly.

Finally lost 2 of the screws off mine after some very zealous driving in the mountains trying to keep up with a 4throttle miata. Gotta go to ace hardware to get replacements

Had a trac...... driver education day at Sandown (Track here in Vic, Aus) and there was another bone stock 86 I was going head to head with.

First off the noise the Airaid puts out is amazing, definitely very very happy with it and people watching couldn't believe I had only done intake and not exhaust, it was that much of a difference. No noticeable issues or gains down low but definitely had a little more at top end.

Other than that only issue I have had is the screws falling out and removing the front snorkel (MASSIVE PITA for a bloke with fat man hands haha)
