Stole that from another site, this bloke seems to know his shit too.

Im also waiting on a scan of a piece of paper that tells me the fob 86 price, also waiting for its authenticity, but knowing this guy for a while he can get over excited and usually bluffs his way along, nice guy thou, i just dont always believe him. Oddly enough i am lead to believe the highest figure on this paper is $16957. Could be something could be nothing. Could be fake too who knows. time will tell.

That forum is not better or as informed as this site, but it was ae86dc, ive known of this bloke for a while, never heard a bad thing about him.

I cant see any reason why his info would not have truth to it.

Something else to think about. I was pondering this about 6mths ago.

Dont buy straight away, i am lead to believe based on what happens with some new models there is only a small amount allocated in the first shipment based on approx 3-6mths between shipments so the dealers spec'd the cars out and made big$$ then some time later the $$ dropped.

So there is a possibility the base 86 could be 33-34k +ORC (pure guess) in the beginning only to drop in $$ some 6-12mths later, or if they sell well they could keep the $$ up who knows.

Also a random last night, playing keno i played 3 numbers 32,35,39 and got all 3 numbers in 3 out of 5 games. Make of that what you will. Could these be cost + ORC or driveaway hmmmmmm

Of the approx 150 first cars allocated to OZ 130 are already allocated. This what my dealer told me today.

personally im waiting till xmas maybe feb next year.

Just FYI, the quote in question is not from me. Must be a glitch in the system.

But if the source is reliable, an FOB price would be quite revealing. From FOB price. it is a matter of estimating insurance, shipping, landing charges, import duty, and land transportation. You can get a rough idea of actual cost to Toyota Australia.

Sorry Paros not sure what happened there. Maybe i went to add a quote from you but didnt delete the name only the content im sorry.

If the number is true then i roughly work it out (going of old info from my account management days well before GST started) approx 31k +ORC.

I wouldnt know what gets added to FOB these days, someone else might be able to do the math better then me. + half these invoices these days are all in code and i wouldnt have a clue what the codes are.

At best you could see the gts as its 10% of another figure, i also assume they regas the airco systems here after fob, i cant imagine they ship them with airco gas in them, any fuel added, % allocated for warranty etc etc way to many variables. + did i read right our base is better then JDM base, leather gear knob and steering wheel or something like that.

Getting close peoples. And if "I learnt the price today of the entry level car and it is below what we had all thought. Toyota Australia has done us proud!" is true then 31K + ORC seems about right, assuming we all had thought of 35k+ORC.

My issues is I want the car to be a success which undoubtedly will be in other markets.

I'm just worried for Australia because at that price you can get double the amount of car even if it is afew years older. (Im sure p-platers and "office show offs" will snap them up by the dozens but is that who we really want driving them?)

AS for a driving enthusiast, I would rather spend it on a evo or wrx which I know is like comparing apples to oranges but they are double the car (No one can say that 45k is worth more in a 86 than a evo 9/10)

I guess in summary I don't want them falling into a Rx8 class of car ( I remember all the hype about them) but the 86 is certainly ticking all the same boxes.

Anyways end of my rant cant wait to see some drift set ups :P

I hope you guys are right about the price. if it's below 35k then that would be an awesome start. I won't get my hopes up too high as I don't want to get shot down.

I don't know about the amount of hype there was for the RX8 but the amount of press and the amount of development that's gone into the 86/brz is just crazy! I doubt the RX8 had this kind of hype about it.

Although as with most newer cars, only those with funds can afford the all out kind of gear.

Its not till some years later and the cost of the car is significantly lower that the worms in the lower fund avail public come to play.

I dont think the 86 will have any trouble. Not in the long run atleast, like the current AE86 it gets better with age.

personally id like to see a alloy v6 s/charged in the engine bay.

I also noticed when NOB was driving the car he ask the horsepower and weight, weight was 1250kg but it was the highest spec'd car so is it far to say we could get the base model near or even with 1200kgs

But lets face, it is the enthusiasts that drive this market + buy aftermarket + keep better care of the cars + promote and keep the car reputation alive and give the car the reputations.

I hope Nissan and Mazda get jealous and start releasing competitors. Bring back the 200sx and Rx7:happy0180:

I cant see Mazda doing anything straight away but i feel Nissan will make/redesign the Silvias in some way. Might even baby the NSX into a 4cyl.

The NSX concept is a fair warning Nissan are still thinking of the future interms of performance cars apart from Godzilla.
