I will agree the designed seemed lazy. I'm no engineer (more of biomechanics), but it seems like an easy way to shorten the throws. But I'd rather them have done what the JDM short shifters did. Not that they reduce throw or height much either. I've just been putting off taking mine off.

I remember you saying yours came loose again. Did it loosen but quit backing out at some point because of the loctite?

It loosened up despite having loctite on it. However, I didn't apply enough loctite to the end of the bolt like I should have. It hasn't come loose since, but I still don't like the feel it gives to the throws honestly.

The part wedges on crooked which causes the cap screw to bind. Why fuck with parts that don't fit?

Spend a few extra bucks and get a proper short shift lever.

At some point, I'd like to get the STI JDM short shifter. Just expensive :s

The screw cap wouldn't fit straight and torque at first but I reread the instructions closely, set the O-ring, and was able to torque it. I refused to settle til I heard my torque wrench click which is a good check to ensure it won't back out.

Didn't even apply any Loctite, added 1k+ miles and still no issues. That's my physics, not opinion.

The only two that I know of are the STI JDM unit and the kartboy. I don't have either because I'm working on a custom one. More like I have something half finished and will get around to it someday.

The decrease in leverage will be about the same. It will feel the same as your current assembly. I understand the hesitation. It gets old having to yank so hard.

Stock throw is fine to me. It could be a little bit shorter but then there would be even more complaints about hard downshifts and missed second gear shifts when cold.
