I love it when someone stumbles ontp what others have been doing for ages and tries to patent the idea. It would make Delicious the Apple of the tuning world.

Well, to be fair, all the big players in the software world play that same game. But yeah... this definitely ranks up there in the top 3 stupidest things I've heard this week. Copyrighting a technique? Someone needs a better lawyer lol.

Thank you for pointing this out. I am not sure where this "patent" terminology has come from as I have never stated as such. Obviously there is a lot of confusion between the difference of a Copyright and Patent. This technique can not be patented but it can be copyrighted, which is a much different term.

"Doing this for ages..." I have yet to see another tuner on the FA20 platform perform the same technique we use in our tunes. There are plenty of FA20 tuners using all types of systems (oem, standalone, ecutek etc...) and I know there have been a few tuners who have tried to figure out what we have done but have yet to implement and explain how. It has been nearly a year and yet to see anything appear.

Because we have been watching this for quite some time and it has yet to be duplicated we feel it is in our best interest to copyright our intellectual property we created. This is no different then a person taking a photo and copyrighting the work they created. You are more then welcome to research this and speak to a lawyer as I am sure they will state the same thing.

Regards,
William Knose

I am no fan boy and am a true believer in free enterprise but I would fault any business owner for NOT trying to protect their intellectual property. For the same reason I am against welfare and the obamaphones. Why should someone benefit from the hard work of another? The market encourages someone to produce a better tune than what we currently have. As soon as there is one then the market will shift. It's the drive of progression.

Even if someone "stumbles upon" the delicious secret I doubt they will be as devoted as much of a perfectionist or constantly pushing for continious improvement. I've been a few places and tried a few tunes. The first tune I got from delicious was the best and it has only gotten better. I've got logs to prove it.

That's as unbiased as I can possibly be.

Although datalogs are plentiful, and we get offers (that we turn down) from customers to look at so and so's datalog, perhaps it would be best to not assume what tuner x does compared to tuner y. I think with time we see one move a step forward but then this equation changes as we all focus on different portions of the performance envelope, and are presented with different mods on different cars. Just because you may see a certain DI/PI ratio in one datalog, really has no bearing on the multitude of variations that have been tried. Some folks here have had multiple revisions over time and have seen the progress first hand. Others jumped ship early on and swear by one tune or another, which discredits the progress that has been made.

In reference to the DI aspect, lets not cloud the reality with tuning philosophy. It is an injector. It fires for a certain time, with a certain pressure. With EcuTek RaceROM there is no limitation with that aside from physics. This is not unique to any tuner. What is unique is how we implement it. Nothing to patent or copyright, just preference. We all put our name to the tunes and their reliability, and if we think that a certain combination will deliver the best longevity and performance, that is what we go with. Doesn't mean that there haven't been things that don't work for everyone--no tuner is immune to that.

What I can say with absolute certainty having invested heavily in this platform last year, is that it has come a very long way from then, and even the last few months. There really is much to learn for everyone. If that weren't the case you wouldn't be seeing a new revision monthly.

I mean no malice, just thought it was funny that the first thing that popped into my head in relation to Delicious was Apple. Of all the full of shit American tuners I see posting on the interweb, I can honestly say those posting in this thread have been a pleasant exception.

I've had the local Ecuwreck (term of endearment down here) guys trying to get their hands on cars I've tuned (for obvious reasons), as well as a certain turbo kit manufacturer asking for copies of my rom files, so understand the importance of protecting whatever gives you an edge.

If whatever you are discussing with your lawyers keeps the Ecuwreck guys down under from working out how to not blow these things up, then it suits me down to the ground.

Got my E85 map the other day from Delicious. Could not get it to duplicate the problem while running the E60 or E85 map. Seems to confirm the low ethanol content being at least an issue if not the issue.

I'm running 70mm pulley intercooled as well.

Took my car on the drag strip last night. Even with the best non-R compound tires you can buy it was still tough battling the wheel spin even at 3k rpm.

Here are my times:
4th run 14.468
3rd run 14.230
2nd run 13.985
1st run 14.368

My goal was to beat 14secs and I did so I'm happy. In the past I went with an Evo IX RS and got about a 14.2 and a VW R32 and got about 14.3 so it's good the BRZ is faster than my old cars. If it wasn't I may have started to think about selling it for a faster car...

Build thread is in my signature if curious to know what I'm running in my car.

Best was 102.37mph 13.985 at 1/4 finish
80.79 at 9.084 at 1/8 mile point
.605 reaction with 2.143 at 60ft.

My reaction time isn't great, neither is my 60ft. Silly torque down low spins the tires.

I was wondering why the post was missing. I can take a bit of flame as I'm wearing fire retardant clothing.
