So I am still having some trouble getting over my dog's passing.
And I've been wondering if it would be a good or bad idea to get another dog?
Does that sound like it would be too soon or a good time to get a new one?

... I don't even know... I guess I feel a little lost and don't know what to do.

Anyway, I have thought about what kind of dog breeds I'd be interested in getting for some time.

I'm considering a Rottweiler, a Wolf Dog/Husky hybrid, a Pomsky, or a Doberman.

We'll always vacillate between grief and joy remembering our best friends. Only you can tell when it's been long enough. You won't be betraying your lost pet, you'll be applying everything they taught you for the benefit of your new pet.

Personally, I took a year before my last dog's passing mainly b/c he was a special needs boy who required my care 24/7. I didn't take extended vacations for years due to his chronic illnesses so took the year to travel without worries.

About your short list of breeds, I'd suggest first checking with your homeowner's insurance policy rules. My policy would cancel me for owning three out of four on your list (although having owned one would choose another Dobie).

Here is our 2.5 yr old German Shepard, Amelia.

This is our 1 yr old German Shepard mix, Booger. We rescued her from a friend's in-laws. They picked her up from the shelter and was going to return her shortly after because they had laminent floors put in their basement and didn't want the dogs to scratch them. This was the 2x dog in ~10 yrs. They'd grab them when they were puppies and get rid of them a few months later. It was bad enough that they had to switch vets because they (vets) said something to them about it.
