Indeed. That's exactly why I6s are pretty much a dead breed.

I think the main reason given was that V6's allow you to snub the body, lowering the size and weight of said cars, and making it easier to reach emission/MPG standards in Japan.

Could be mistaken though, Ichi probably knows better than I do. All I know is that I6's are gone from the Japanese market, and there's nothing we can do about it.

And I would totally say Toyota should make another I6. I LOVE I6's, they are by far much better than V6's, imho. Its just sad knowing that it WON'T happen.
It's pretty much what other have said.

BMW makes extensive use of I6s, especially turbocharged. Their N/A N52 is one of my fav I6 engines, too bad it's getting phased out.

1JZGTE is mine (in my car). But from a pure overall performance point, I have dirty thoughts of putting a 3MZFE (3.3L aluminum closed deck block from Camry, ES300, et al.) into a Supra.

The V6 advantages I see are these:

- Shorter crank can be more rigid which is better for high rpm reliability, possibly lighter for the same strength.
- Less weight on the front axles.
- Allows for larger bore. For example if they wanted to make a 3JZ with the same 92mm bore as the 3MZ while keeping the cylinder wall thickness between them the same, the motor would be 36mm longer than the original 86mm bore 2JZ. Which gets back to the weight over the front issue.
- With the larger bore you have more flow/power potential due to valve and port sizes.

I personally believe that a properly built 3.3L 3MZ could out-power a 3.4L 2JZ stroker at the same boost levels. Now take into effect the reduced weight and improved balance, on a road course it would be an absolute embarrassment for the 2JZ car. These thoughts would be considered blasphemy in a Supra community.

BMW and Holden (I think) are pretty much the only companies left that produce I6 engines, hence, a dead/dying breed.

I think it's Australian Ford that still does, and Holden's all about the LSx now.

Okay so even if Toyota reuses a dead car name or Subaru names it stupid monkey we just call it the Ichi-Nii 1-2. Why? Because it's the big brother .

So it's gimmicky but I like it better than referring to it as that "dead car name" :/.

I think it will be a new name. They want something that will draw attention which means the name can't be related to anything produced in the last 10 years since all of those cars are boring. I would like the name Levin though.
