Ah, oh well. That's what I get for half-assed playing around in STX.
Btw, anyone looking for a header? haha :P

Had the last event for the season here in upstate NY on Sunday on a set of RE71R's. Settled on 34psi front and 31psi rear hot after a few runs. Does the wear look alright? From what I've read the recommendation was lower the the tire pressure until the roll over was at the triangles. Does the wear on the face of the tread look normal, there seems to be a lot of rubber? Hopefully I wasn't over driving! I don't remember my original set of falken rt615's wearing like this, though they were a much harder compound.
Does anyone have recommendations on a set of street/autox pads? The grip on these tires is insane, the brake pads could use some more bite! Front ![]() Rear

![]() I like Ferodo DS2500 or Hawk HPS/HP+ for brake pads. Used them in both street and ST class cars.

The triangles really aren't useful for that on most tires, I'd really only do that on a street tire that doesn't belong on autox/track, a tire temp gauge works wonders at reducing the guesswork on pressures, hell it'll probably pay for itself in a year or two as you don't spend all day guessing and potentially making the wrong call, scheduling a T&T and burning up the tires just to figure them out by trial and error.
I've used 4 sets now in 3 different sizes, from 205 to 245, 26-29 psi cold/ambient, 28-34 psi hot is in the ballpark depending on the conditions and specifics of the car. On brake pads the oft repeated options are Carbotech AX6, Project Mu HC800, and Ferodo DS2500. I'm sure there are other options out there that people like (Hawk, Winmax), but stay away from 'sporty' street pads imo, Carbotech 1521, Project Mu NS400, TRD, and probably Stoptech just aren't much up to the task imo. I'm probably going to pick up a set of AX6 or HC800 for my STX car when I burn up my current pads (NS400). My only worry is how loud they'll be but hopefully I'll be autoxing enough to keep them bedded in. |

No autox course is going to generate enough brake heat to worry about, so pad choice is down to brake feel and preference.
If you are doing track work, you need to get a track pad and either a second set of street pads or live with pads that don't really work right off the track (loud, dusty, and accelerated rotor wear). |

Thanks for the insight guys! The triangles aren't useful, but my pressures are in the ballpark.
I was thinking along the lines of ds2500's or porterfield r4s pads. I've had stoptech pads and I couldn't keep them bedded on the rotors, bad brake pedal shake. As long as the pads are quite, have more bite and are easy to modulate I'll be happy. |

Well it looks like my RS1.0 under this wording can move to DS. This is the part that worries me though...
