If the BRZ didn't exist, I would probably have bought a 2016 Miata MX5.

Always loved the s2000. Still look good when I see them on the road. Probably would have grabbed one if the 86 didn't come out of no where and suck me in.

The two cars I was cross shopping back when I bought mine were the NSX (decided against because I didn't want to deal with mid engine service) and an air cooled Porsche (didn't want to deal with old/hard to find parts), both were the same price as a lightly used FR-S in early 2013.
Fuck me, right? |

Before the FRS/BRZ was released it was a tie between an E36 M3, G35, and the 350z

I would of been looking at a 2015+ WRX.
I really WANTED an S2K or a Miata, but the practicality wasn't there to justify it. The drop top roadsters are wonderful to drive, but I wanted a hard top so I could drive it year round if needed. I have my Forester XT which is my toy car, so I actually chose to look away from the 2015 WRX because I felt I didn't need another turbocharged low displacement AWD Subaru, but it DID fit the fun/mpg/new car bill that I wanted.

I would've still been dealing with my old 300ZX. possibly all the cash dumped into my brz now, would've helped bring some life back to my z32. Oh well.
