Cool...literally! Missed that. Still, given all Nissan's engineering missteps with the 370Z, I'll wait for independent verification of "no longer a problem" bit as "helped a little" might also apply in practice.

I say that only because there was much discussion on their boards since the car's introduction and people adding 3rd party coolers that didn't do the trick quite enough on street and track... so will be intersting to see just how resolved it really is by the factory. It could be caused to some extent by internal lack of oil flow which no external radiator can fix completely if the heat can't get to it fast enough.

If the stock FT-86 can pass this test, it's the better sports car, regardless of trap speed, cornering g force, or any other metric...as the 370Z is legendary for its weak knees under stress.

This is the best post I've read yet in any of these VS threads. Nissan/Infiniti Reliability has gone the way of BMWs and Mercedes.

^Yep that about sums it up. Use to have a 350z. Oiling issues is well known under the Z line.

Anyone know where I can find the overlay of the GT86 with the 370z to see the size differences.

Yupz, one is ghe lighter fighter
while the other is a heavy hitter..

Like in Boxing .. one is a heavy hitter who has more power
and is an IN fighter ..
the Lighter hitter is an out fighter who uses its agility
for pin-point strikes on the outside..

My Co-worker drives a Nismo 370Z and even he said
if he had not bought the Z he might of opted for the BRZ's
" STI " verison ... (( which we all know is coming later on in the BRZ's life cycle))

Magazines will compare these cars strictly in terms of performance and give the win to the Z. But we really want our cars to be

1. Cheap
2. Fast
3. Reliable

And you can only pick two. Toyota is executing on that (mind, we still don't have a price nor reliability data). Nissan only picked 1 out of 3. "Fun factor" is not listed because it's purely subjective but one car will have a distinct edge on that (the one that was engineered exactly for that). They'll be different enough that it should be an easy comparison. No match.

How do you know if the 86 will be reliable? Let's wait 3 years after it drops to find out.
