I would say with certainty that it wont be near 30K mark.
IF the FT-86 starts getting close to the 30k mark then they will be knocking on the door of the EVO, 370z, Impreza crowd. I know those cars a litttle more than 30k but thinking about it if your paying 29k for a FT-86 why not just add a few thousand and buy a lot more powerful car.

I'm going to say if toyota is trying to some what recreate the AE86 it will probably be 17 to 25k broad range for all the different models. The Sprinter tureno was just a normal sports car back then it wasn't meant to be anything super awesome. The price reflected that back then. So the FT86 to stay true to the same philosophy would have to be priced modest also.

So far, our collective mind says:

Although unorthodox, if you take the middle number of the range from each choice of the poll (ie $20K-$23K = $21.5K), our polled average turns out to be $22,365. So as a group (first 52 responses), we collectively think (w/ maybe a little bit of hope) that the base MSRP will be about $22,365.

Even more unorthodox will be to take a standard deviation from these non-ratio responses, but for shits and giggles, it is $2,744. So we might say that if this is an average situation, we can be ~84% sure the price will be +/- $2,744.

The good news is all that sounds reasonable, but the bad news is it is not technically the correct way to go about measuring predictions and reporting statistics. But for me, it is good enough as a rough yet reasonably obtained estimate, especially if you consider that we will know the *actual* price soon enough.

Category Midpoint # Resp % Resp Midpoint * %Resp
<$17,000 $15,500 1 1.92% $298
$17,000-$20,000 $18,500 6 11.54% $2,135
$20,001-$23,000 $21,500 28 53.85% $11,578
$23,001-$26,000 $24,500 12 23.08% $5,655
$26,001-$29,000 $27,500 4 7.69% $2,115
$29,000-$32,000 $30,500 1 1.92% $586

SUM: 52 100.00% $22,365
(hmm, that doesn't post over very well, but hopefully it is clear enough)

Guessing $21,199 base NA to exactly undercut the genesis with dest. Charge included.

**If** there is a turbo version, $24,249 base.

**If** they make a convertible version, it would be slightly cheaper than the turbo (and it'll be NA) priced to compete with the miata.... say, $23k

Won't speculate on a TRD/GT-4 version.........

I guess however, that there wont be many options..... auto, sunroof, better stereo....... that's about it.

It'd be cool to see a "clubsport" spec with wind up windows, steelies, no backseat for like $18-19k. Advics brakes, streo delete & ac delete optional. 6 Speed only.

I dunno about the next update, but my guess is final price points won't be released until roughly 4-5 months before production.

Whatever the price is , it's gonna be more over here in Belgium . Our government doesn't like sportscars , actually they don't like cars at all.

That sucks. I know how you feel. Prices in Canada are unproportionately higher than what they should be based on the dollar value.

At least we had the benefit of being able to stick it to the dealers and go south to buy our cars (Which forced a lot of car companies in Canada to drop prices across the board). You guys don't even get that.

Hopefully Toyota won't stick this one to you guys with a high sticker.

I guess you're right. Here in Europe, governments are really oposed to people buying Japanese -mostly- cars.
But I think that I would rather buy an FT86 from your country, my friend. You see, I live in Greece.. ALL cars are more expensive here than in other countries

Cool

I've heard so many ranges for this car, it is really hard for me to believe it will drop under 20k even at the low end.

I've seen some sites commenting 40k ?!! Now that is ridiculous to me.

I think at the high end low 30's probably
and low end - mid 20's.

I compare this car in value to maybe a year or two back Impreza WRX sti, or Evo

I think the values will compare nicely with those 4cyl, also "drift like" vehicles

Motortrend commented this car saying when released it may be the best drift car in the world

I am so excited to see a new light weight, shorter than audi TT, big wheel base, sports car

GAWWW i want it so bad haha

in the UK, the sort of sports coupes that the ft will be competing with are mostly in the £24k-£28k price bracket ($40k-$47k at todays rates)
i would be very surprised indeed if this comes in at under £25k in the uk

that is probably where i read $40k from, someone talking about the europe estimate

we'll see though, it seems a lot of people are aiming at half of that... i would be utterly surprised if it drops under $20k base model, no options
