A large, noseless, bear hugging, old, Hungarian. And @soulreapersteve still couldn't find you at a meet.

I think I'm going to buy new corner supports. If that doesn't work I think I might take my wheel off, remove the wheel well plastic, and try to zip tie it together from the inside without drilling any holes. Here's the link for the corner supports if anyone is interested http://www.subarupartsamerica.com/pa...rner%20support |

I hit a deer a little over a year ago, and kept having to take my car back to the body shop after the initial repair and argue with insurance over this issue. They kept telling me that it was fixed, but when I'd go back it wouldn't even be attached under the headlight. Insurance let me go to a second shop who made it better, but after a year the tabs on the bumper wore from the pressure pulling down and wouldnt stay at all. I talked to my insurance who let me take it back to the original shop. They only made it worse. I got so tired of the run around from insurance/shops that I ended up doing the lower plastic air dam to crash bar fix myself and all new bumper clips. That made it the best it has been and it stays engaged to the headlight clips now. If my outer bumper tabs hadn't destroyed themselves before doing this it would probably hold perfect. I'll have to get a new bumper at this point for that though.

It could be worse. My co worker just got focus st. Body panels were all miss matched. One side was sticking out while other was in. Worst one was one side rear door was sticking out half inch when fully closed. Did some research and this problem was somewhat common ?

I've never seen that zip tie method on the quebec forum, but that is probably what I'm going to end up doing. It's getting worse on my car.

Oh well... at least i don't have to deal with clips. Brackets do not help, trust me, its the loops on the bumper that get stretched.

If it's the loops on the bumper. Would putting a thin piece of aluminum underneath. to reinforce it help?

I tried this first with mine. I even tried a little piece of carbon fiber glued to the bottom of the last loop that had gotten very weak. There just isn't much material to work with there and it just ends up falling off. Glue doesn't like to stick to the bumper material either, even ones made for plastic.

This thread has me paranoid about removing my bumper ever. I'm as OCD as they come and this would drive me freakin' nuts.
I know the day is coming where the bumper will have to come off... Is there anything I can do proactively to prevent this from happening? |
