More power can get you to go faster in a straight line.

Less weight can make you go faster in a straight line and faster in corners, and makes the overall feel the car more personal because it reacts more smoothly to your imput.

Weight > power in importance.
Go go carbon body components!!

Yeah but it's worth it, and oh so sexy. I guess we just really need to wait and see what the aftermarket provides.

Based on what they did with the Yaris I think it will be close to, but not more than, 2600lbs.

I vote 2500-2599

Voted 2600-2699 in the hope that it will come in around 2650lbs. I would really love for it to be 25xxlbs though. The lesser the better.

Why does the Yaris keep popping up as a baseline / comparison for the FT-86?

The yaris chassis won't even be CLOSE in similarity to the FT-86. DIMENSIONS really don't mean much when you take a chassis (the yaris'), which is meant for around-town economy driving, and flop it next to the FT-86, whose chassis will be considerably more rigid and reinforced for stability in heavy applications, making it heavier than it would be if it wasn't intended for racing.

I really believe its going to be around 2700; 50 lbs in either direction. I'd like it to be lighter, and it should be possible, but I just don't think it will be. Exact answer? 2675
