I have a bunch of chips, paint is peeling on my fender, my bumper is scraped up from being low, my wheels have curb rash, my tires are half worn from camber. I drive the car whenever I can. Stuff is going to get messed up. Nothing I can do about it but call them battle scars and embrace them.

London Airport or the armoury? I wouldn't want to live in the neighbourhood close to the armoury. The legendary EOA area (east of Adelaide) LOL.
My uncle, who is 94 worked in the Lancaster squadron, radio operator I believe.
The old DeHaviland factory is just across the street from my high school. Home of the legendary Twin Otter and Beaver.

At the air base that is now the airport. Farmers in the area still dig up pieces of crashed ones every now and then.
The Armoury has been a high end Delta Hotel for decades now. They kept the shell and built the hotel up through the center. It actually looks pretty cool. You have to go a little farther east to get to the real east of Adelaide joys.

The ones on the front don't bother me as much as some of the others, they're bound to happen especially if you drive on the highway in the winter. My back bumper is dimpled and has a small crack in it from somebody parallel parking by braille and my trunk lid edge has a big chip down to bare metal where a guy on a bicycle rear ended me and went up on the back of the car. The passenger door has a deep cone shaped dimple from a shopping cart or something and the clear coat is damaged the drivers side where somebody threw up on the car.

The trick is to first get good insurance coverage and then get some real damage once in a while.
First I had the front bumper completely replaced with lights and everything after being backed into, and recently a lot of respray work for bare-metal scratches and chips.
Hasn't cost me anything so far.
Well, except the premium, of course...
I guess I could have had a banged up car and a nice boat instead. Oh well. I'd get sea sick anyways.

I use the chips as memories. I do plan to buy another color matched bumper and clear bra it sometime down the road... Maybe. Maybe I'll keep the chips for character.

Weird. My white bumper shows black under chips.

You might be thinking of the metal parts rather than the bumper?
