Is there even an engine left in it? It looks like whoever owned it, dismantled it and sold it for parts/scrap metal.

Dont let the butt holes get you down OP! Buying a car you want that needs work is an amazing way to save and even make money! Anyone who has bought a $500 car and put some work into it would understand. But a lot of people dont turn there own wrenches around here so they wouldnt get it..
![]() I am interested to see the progress on this car. It should be fun not having to worry about the cosmetics so much and being able to focus on the mechanical stuff. Although it looks like you will probably want to go rocket bunny again lol also for me.. please.. for the love of god.. take the yellow off of the headlights! thats is all

To get this car back to stock looks like you just need new fenders, taillights, remove the ugly yellow from the headlights, and a repaint as long as there are no hidden structural or mechanical problems. I think most are just poking you and having little fun or over exaggerating. I personally like the rocket bunny kit V1 its nice when done tastefully and when the fenders are molded so there are not rivets showing like this build.
Edit: And if you plan on going the rocket bunny route keep the fenders if you buy new ones you just end up cutting them again.

Not a fan of rocket bunny, but yes when pieces are molded properly and you don't have Frankenstein rivets showing everywhere it is more tolerable.
The giant wings look ridiculous on these cars. Especially if you are pushing less than 400hp to the wheels and the car would never see at track. It just boggles my mind that people dump thousands, and sometimes tens of thousands of dollars to hack their cars up and then realize the car is probably worth less than a stock one. |

Investing in a car to later sell it is flat out a bad investment usually. I have spent a few thousand on my car and have added little to no value in terms of resale, but what I added improves the overall experience of the car for me, and thats well worth the money. Its all about perspective and some people don't plan on selling there car also.

Salvage cars are bought all the time by individuals or companies that fix and resell .... at a profit. My father did this for years. He bought the cars from insurance companies or from the salvage yards. The cars were always sold at a steep discount due to the salvage title. The cars are not perfect, but the selling price reflects this. There is definately a market for these type of cars. Obviously not here on this forum.

Now it's a different story when you buy a new car, sink $$$$$ into it, and somehow expect it will come close to break even on resale. Like everything else, the money is made at the buy not on the sell.

If you like that shit and never plan to sell it, do whatever makes you happy. But even the people who think they'll never sell their cars eventually decide they want something else and are too often shocked at how little they've made the car worth. Before I bought the BRZ, I was considering trying to find a used Dodge Magnum SRT, the station wagon with the big hemi. At that time, the SRTs were going for $20K to $25K. I came across one that had 14K miles on it and watched over a period of months as the guy initially listed it at $25K, then dropped it to $20K, then $15K, then finally bottomed out at $11K and wouldn't go any lower. And he still couldn't sell the damned thing. Why? Because he had put a ridiculous neon green paint job on it, huge rims and lambo doors. Nobody wanted that shit because it would cost more than it was worth to fix it. I'm sure when he did that, he thought he would keep it forever. Then he outgrew it. Sadly, that car will probably end up in the crusher long before it should. |

Stock pre-owned 2013 MYs aren't that expensive to begin with. I wouldn't have even considered buying this.

That's cool...I've always wanted to do a project car like that but don't have anywhere I can work on it or store it while working on it.
