To me, it looks like you hit rev limit before any damage was done anyway. Did the throttle cut pretty hard? Looks like just locked up to save the engine from incidents like this. Admittedly I have hit the throttle limit like that in the past, once. It is definitely enough to make your stomach drop when it happens the first time.
The rev limit does nothing for you when you miss a shift like that.
You can hear the rear tires lighting up when he misses.
It is not clear in the video what RPM the engine gets too because the view is partially blocked AND the tach will not respond that quickly.
He definitely got to 8k, but the black box might say higher.

Good thing he didnt have wide, sticky tires or it would have gone BOOM!

You should have a look at tightening the linkage and play in your gear lever if you have a lot of it. I got mine replaced under warranty. Not sure how you got it in 1st from 2nd

Last year i over revved my GSR, i went 3rd to 2nd instead of 4th. My shift rpm is 9500.i think it went to about 14k lol i bent 12 out of 16 valves, cracked 1 piston and broke my pressure plates rivets but i still made it home. Not to make you nervous your probably fine. That was a 400 whp turbo car
