@tehwegz, the wild card in your plan is the West coast port strike that started today. Your area is fed from the Port of Portland. Nothing will be offloaded there. They say it's temporary but even if it is, the JDM supply chain becomes disrupted for weeks.

Since all Scions are built in Japan, whatever's in dealer and port stock could be it for awhile. Dealers are aware of this and will probably raise prices as inventory sells out. Time to act on a new car or shop used while the snow flies.

That's still true to this day.

Do the Canadian ones not come into Canada through the Vancouver BC port?
I know my first Lancer came in there but never paid any attention to anything else.

Not 100% true, but probably true, none-the-less. We're also beholden to the Port of Portland's issues. It leaves their port to be barged up to Alaska. That even includes the Toyotas and Lexus that's built in the US. We still get vehicles at a regular basis on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Albeit, the amount of vehicles we're receiving as of late seems smaller than before. I don't know if it's because we had a huge amount of vehicles delivered to us first week of January, or if it's due to the strike. If it's due to the strike, then he should just expect his dealership to just have a slightly delayed wait time. Of course, if he was to order, they would prioritize it over the unpurchased vehicles for delivery.

Actually, they're railed to Seattle and barged from there.

Okay, you're probably right. But I do recall being told our Scions land on Portland before being brought up here, which confused me because we seemed closer to Japan than the Washington/Oregon area... But hey, I'm not the shipping company, so whatever works.

You're right, they're mainly serviced through BC for JDM production. Apparently they're also out in sympathy with US Longshoremen.

This could get testy since Teamsters (truckers) will walk out in support of Longshoremen and that will affect North American and JDM production. What a mess but unlike the past, I'm not sure if the current NLRB will help to solve or aggravate the problem if they get involved.

hmm, should I? They might be willing to do all-in 24k on the dot.

Otherwise I've looked into a new 2015 but Scion.ca says a Base will be 30k, -500 customer incentive. Inquired with a dealer hopefully they come up with something else.

Here's the competition as far as pricing goes.

2.3EB Mustang w/ track pack $32.5k
WRX Base $32k
Genesis Coupe 3.8 R Spec $31k
Fiesta ST $28k

...

Update...I looked at a 2013 asphalt 6MT today. They gave me the car to drive for a few hours as well.

Something was chirping in the engine bay after driving it around for a while. I could hear it from cabin, windows closed. It wasn't coming from fuel pump/rear. Under hood of car sounded like belt/AC compressor even thought PS pump then reminded self car has electric steering. Another thing was the idle wasn't very steady. And every time at a stop when I had the car in neutral, clutched in, and put it in gear there would be a very light thud almost as if someone lightly kicked the back of my seat. They said they'll look into it. On top of that the issue I had was its modified more than my liking on the electrical side of things.

$24,400 was the final price. 4k down, 84 months at 5.98 to which I would've paid off under half that but the low monthly payments are attractive. It has 15,000 kms and this is what it has with receipts to prove:

-Rubber winter floor mats
-OEM 17" rims and tires
-3M clear bra protection
-A/M MSR 5 spoke 17'' rims with studded Nokian Hakka winters
-A/M Parrot nav/stereo and has a sound system installed. Ugh...I hate sound systems.
-Remote starter, keyless entry, ignition so car doesn't turn off till you've closed door and/or locked it.
-3 free oil changes (I'd rather do them myself though)

I didn't go through with it but told the guy the car is still on my radar. Now I have time to think, compare, and maybe get input from you guys on this. The extras are nice, but I'm not crazy about them. I'd rather stock/virgin with none of the issues that presented themselves. The nav/stereo wasn't functional either and they told me they would have to hook it up and "activate" it.

Sounds like it's time to "activate" another dealership.
