What would you pay? New MY2014 Base.

Last brand new MY14 with 5km's on the odometer in my city and they've had it for 3 months. Brand new and the dealer has it listed for 22,8 before tax/fees (Scion.ca still has MY2014 and cash price is $22,9 before tax/fees). This is in CDN.

I've kept tabs on it the whole time waiting to make a move. Its gone from 24,3 > 23,5 > 22,8. With tax/fees tacked on the 22,8 they gave me $26,1 back early January 2015. I was holding out for better. Now I see they still have the car. So I just counter-offered 25k on the dot, not a cent more. So basically gets rid of the bogus $400 admin fee which I've done most of the work in this sale anyway as the sales guy didn't know squat about the car (for instance, he thought a TC on the lot was an FRS). Also, they're charging $550 for a factory installed block heater, claiming how its mandatory where I live. I thought this was silly, so verified it and it is NOT mandatory.

I already have my own financing. I'm eligible for the 1k grad rebate, which will swallow up 90% of what I pay interest to bank. So 25k, which currently, that's ~20k USD. And damn...our dollar is way down.

Dude grab it! that is a steal. Or more accurately around here it would be a steal as even 14s can still go for $26 to 28 K!

Get it, it's like your almost getting a used, but brand new car!

How many miles/km on the odo?

That's the only reason I could think why it wasn't snapped up weeks ago at that price, test driving miles are probably some of the least kind miles, although imo it's unlikely anybody did anything worse than I would eventually do.

OP says 3 miles which is almost unheard of with just the drive off line and at port so no test drives.

.

What city are you in?

tehwegz 02-08-2015 03:06 AM

I can't recall what the odometer said on the car. We looked at 3 different ones that day (Dec 30) as they were all covered by a half foot of snow. Some excavation was required in order to find the one I was after. lol

The only problem I see you'd run into if you wait is someone else might scoop it up. How often did they lower their price? Because it's brand new, Pure Price is still in effect. If they're anything like my dealership, it'd be unlikely for them to budge on the admin/doc fee. As for the block heater, if it's factory-installed, then they're not going to budge either. It's already installed and it costs money for them to take out.

Of course, if they decide to ignore Pure Pricing and Scion's process overall, then they might be willing to budge. But if they do and Scion finds out, bye bye dealership's ability to sell Scions.

You'd be a fool not to buy! That's an incredible deal!

Just looking over my invoice and it was $32400 all in w/ a discounted rust proofing package. I paid msrp at $26300 July of 2013. Hindsight is always 20/20- I feel stupid for never haggling. Could've saved a bunch or maybe was smart and got a brz for the same price ahaha. Ah well.

Holy crap it is for real!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Many apologies for doubting you dude! You have to admit that it looked damned strange.
Buy it! Buy it now!

Although they have two others for $26K+?
I don't think the $22K one is new but may be lightly used. All three say 5 as the mileage so obviously not accurate.

tehwegz 02-08-2015 02:06 PM

I just learned it was sold already. I can only imagine for 26k (cash) or 29k through TFS. Which were the two options they laid out on the table for me last time.

No rush, still another good month and some of winter. Going to keep an eye on lightly used ones.

Thanks for the input guys.

No worries.

And it was new. They had a 1k buyer rebate and a 3k 2014 FR-S model year clear out rebate. Then add fees/tax. I was hoping to cut to the middle and get out with it for 25k which is what I would've been happy with.

I never planned on getting new till I ran into that.

I'm not saying this to offend, but because it's a plain, straight up dose of reality.

Dude I can't believe I defended you! You are just so anti 86 that it is dripping off you even while saying you miss it and want one.
Since everybody likes to use this forum to represent all 86 activities the number of new buyers in the last two moths disproves your theory.

The dealer that the OP was speaking of had 3 14s one for $22 and two for $27 so they were not trying to blow them all out.
