@Capt Canuck, i disagree about those(05-07) Mustangs being rubbish. I've watched them win in the SCCA and NASA races for years now.
whats wrong with the original rear suspension?

That's fair enough. But is that out of the box?
I had an BMWCCA HPDE instructor who had an '06 Mustang and he took me out for a session in it. Indeed it went pretty damn well, especially with a quality driver But it wasn't a Mustang you could walk into a dealership and buy. It had had a bit of work done.

It's a live axle and borrows it's technology from lumber wagons from 1903. LoL.

The Roush however has a very well-done independent rear suspension system. Top Gear BBC did a very nice demonstration on why the IRS on the Roush is better on one of their episodes-- pitting a standard mustang versus the Roush. The Roush was better planted and could get through the turns more quickly and without as much oversteer.

Things are changed in the A Sedan class in the SCCA, the requirements are listed here :
http://cms.scca.com/documents/Club%2...20GCR/ASCS.pdf and you can decide for yourself if those changes are enough to still declare the Mustang rubbish out of the box.

I've heard on another forum i'm on (Grassroots Motorsports) that changing a mustang's strut/spring system is like night and day. So perhaps a fresh factory mustang is a bit rough, but with some proper coilovers or even struts it can be much better.

I take issue with saying the Mustangs are rubbish.

EDIT: No, i didn't see any reruns on TV, i watch on YouTube. No commercials.
EDIT #2: Here is a link to an SCCA race in A-Sedan last year where Tom Sloe in his Mustang tears up the place. http://www.speedcasttv.com/#/races/278

That looks badass!!!! They did a very good job with this. I'm guessing a lot of the Ford guys would probably figure you could practically get a base GT for that money though, huh? That would be tough to turn down 100+ more hp for a car that looks like this but I'd probably be very tempted.

Asterisked Accolade: Thanks for the links. According to the rule book there a shedload of things you can change, so yes I certainly don't disagree you can make a capable car out of a base Mustang.

If you're having trouble seeing past the rubbish monicker, how about this:
In my limited experience of driving Mustangs as hire cars, I do not like the 05-07 Mustang, but I do like the 2011+ Mustang.

That's me done, thanks again for the links.

whats wrong with live axles? nobody ever complains about the ae86 and its garbage handling. when i drive my friends 12 mustang i dont see notice anything that needs fixing. i mean, yeah it could be better but you could say that about every car.

I woud not consider my 2005 Mustang V6 Convertible (my wife's DD) rubbish. It's a very satisfying daily driver. Sure, I wouldn't want to race it, but its a good solid car for us. I guess it just depends on your mission.

I like it!

But... I would never get one. It just doesn't suit me. The BRZ is more "me." I've owned 5 MR2s (4 mk1s and 1 MRS), and to me the BRZ is the same type of car (even though it's FR). Some cars just appeal to me, and others don't.

The grill or the stripe? The grill is classic Roush and not bad IMO but that hood stipe looks out of place.

A IRS will never be better for straightline accelaration or the dragstrip...I mean never ever never when it comes to that Fords 9 rear end is 1 of the most important automotive discovers in history...the Cobra and GT40 didnt dominate roadracing in its era because the live axel sucked...just food for thought...
