This definitely COULD be user error but I think it is a combination of drivetrain lash and factory tune. I can be absolutely certain i am not pulsing the throttle myself and it will still do it at times.

When i had my OFT i dont remember it happening. The car is far more likely to do it when its cold than warm. It can even do it slightly in 2nd gear at times. Again right after its been started. So until everything warms up and tolerances get to where they were designed to be, it'll happen at some point no matter how gentle you are being on the throttle.

This is "one of those things" this car does.

It's not a stalling issue at 5 to 6 MPH. The car will sometimes seem to buck on its own at 1000 RPM because of induced oscillation. The driver will believe he's not doing it even though he is. All it takes is one tiny, careless motion to set up an oscillation.

I have had mine buck at that RPM. But I recognize that it's my inputs causing it and drive through it. Most people will hit the clutch instead. That's certainly a valid response but then the driver never realizes he was the one in control of the car and not the other way around.

No, it really is you not anticipating what the car is going to do. I'm not questioning your driving ability, because it's not easy to even recognize, much less avoid or correct. Extremely experienced test pilots have died because of pilot induced oscillation in aircraft.

It's funny that you mention the tune. Some modern fighter aircraft are tuned to dampen the controls in slow flight to make them less responsive, effectively tuning out the danger zone for crashing the plane. Seems like you could do something similar with a tune on our cars. Maybe the tune you had from your OFT had a little bit of dampening tuned in.

Definitely could be, but again it only happens right after i start the engine. Leaving for work it happens almost every day. Coming home from work with warm engine, nada.

Doesn't this sort of thing happen with increasing pulsations with a lighter flywheel?

I know that in our Civic Si, which must have a lead based flywheel, we get very little of this compared to the 86.
