From what I've seen the franchise dealers have only been allocated 1 or at most 2 cars, which usually become their demo manual/at cars. The toyota dealers got a few more and the HQ dealer for each state a dozen or so. I guess it just depends where your pre-order was.

Geez wouldn't Toyota allocate cars for all pre-orders and then allocate stock normally. Doesn't really seem fair. Can you shed some light on this Andrew?

Seems stock allocated everywhere and you need to be lucky that there was not many pre-orders at the dealership u ordered from? Rather than allocate stock based on pre-orders!!!!!!
Only thing i can think of that may have happened is possibly the dealer you went to didn't get their stock controller to order the cars promptly as pretty much all pre-orders done were not 100% confirmed - (how could you confirm a deal where there is an escape clause and the client doesn't know the price?), however, all our preoderers are getting their cars in order of deposit laid down ONCE WE RECEIVE THE ACTUAL SHIPMENTS (which is something i informed all preorder buyers who contacted me) because our stock controller was proactive and saw the potential of the 86's popularity and ordered cars immediately upon receiving deposits because we knew how strong the 86 would sell or rather we took a chance that we'd get stuck with cars nobody wanted if Toyota make a mess of the pricing.

Another thing that may have happened is possibly the dealer you went to got allocated less stock of the vehicle.

Something you may or may not know is when you order a car from TMCA you are in a queue to receive it on a first come, first served basis when ordering additional stock.

Also, don't forget that logistics (how far the dealer is from the depot) can sometimes be a major factor in a car's delivery to any particular dealer.

The internal process of getting a new car to a dealer is alot more involved than what people realize, sometimes you also have to contend with industrial actions in the port and transport industries not only in Australia but sometimes in the country of origin not to mention all the natural disasters that have been going on in Japan of late and the treacherous ocean swells the ships have to come through to get here.

Please don't think i'm patronizing you, cos' i'm not. But the answer may not be as simple as you think. When i said a first come first served basis i was talking about what we were doing at our dealership, i can't speak for other dealers as i don't work for them.

But all in all there are alot of factors involved in the process. The 86 gets released officially on the 18th of June, 2012. We have been told by TMCA we will be receiving our first batch sometime after the 18th most likely during the following week.

Sorry if that doesn't satisfy you but that's all i know.

P.S. Another thing that will add time to your order is if you have ordered the Aero body kit after placing your preorder in March as TMCA didn't release the info about how one would be fitted until a couple of weeks prior to the training day AND there was no official mention of it in any dealer communications. The only reason i found out about it and shared that info with you guys and gals is because i search for new information on the 86 daily via official and non-official channels - that and my stock controller is a friggen genius - she is one of the major reasons i have been able to keep you folks informed. Credit where credit is due.

I know what your saying Andrew. Just a bit of frustration coming out from me. This is the rant thread . Lol

Just was hoping to get the 86 b4 mid July.

Sydney city Toyota by the way. I could have just been given the bad news, rather than letting me know it will come next month, then let me down with a delay notice.

It's all good. The price makes it all better. !!!

Cheers mate, unfortunately production has blown out bigtime. I don't think Toyota really anticipated the screamingly awesome success the 86 is. It's not all bad news though - yoohoo Static' I've found a local supplier of TRD parts including Body kits, exhaust systems, gear knobs, Rear Wings, Alloy Wheels, etc. It's in process of being set up but some parts should be available as early as next week.
