Brabus Turns Up The Dial To 600PS On Mercedes-AMG GT S [38 Photos]

For most people, Mercedes-AMG GT S’ output of 510PS (503hp) is more than enough, but Brabus’ customers aren’t “most people”. This is why the German tuner will bring to the Frankfurt Motor Show an upgraded GT S model with 600PS (592hp), as well as enhanced styling and equipment features.

The Brabus PowerXtra B40 – 600 performance kit for the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine of the GT S consists of new mapping for injection and ignition as well as increased boost pressure. The modifications result in an additional 90PS (88hp) and 100Nm (74lb-ft) of torque, for an output of 600PS (592hp) at 6,400 rpm and a peak torque of 750Nm (553lb-ft) at 4,800 rpm.

Thanks to these upgrades, the Mercedes-AMG GT S sprints from rest to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.6 seconds (0.2 seconds quicker than the stock car) and reaches a top speed of 325 km/h (201 mph), an increase of 15 km/h.

Besides engine tuning, Brabus added a sports quad exhaust made from extremely lightweight titanium which weighs about 40 percent less than the production exhaust and optimizes the power delivery of the V8 engine. It’s also fitted with electronically controlled butterfly valves operated from the cockpit that allow the driver to set the engine’s sound level.

Brabus also fitted the car with a sports suspension with a series of selectable settings for damping and ride height. The sports springs lower the ride height of GT S by about 15mm (0.6in).

Styling upgrades include a carbon aero kit consisting of more aggressive bumpers and spoilers, new design air outlets for the front fenders, new rocker panels and a rear diffuser with tailor-made cutouts for the four tailpipes. The Brabus-modified Mercedes-AMG GT S rides on ultra-light Monoblock F forged wheels with diameters of 20 inches on the front axle and 21 inches at the rear.

For the interior, customers can choose exclusive accessories such as carbon scuff plates with stainless-steel inserts and a backlit Brabus logo, matte anodized or chrome-plated aluminum pedals and aluminum paddle shifters in an even more ergonomic position.

Like all Brabus models, the GT S can be personalized with fine leather and Alcantara interiors tailored to the owners’ preferences when it comes to color and the design and the upholstery. The inlays for dashboard, center console and door panels can also be customized with carbon and precious wood trim sets in any desired color and with different surface finishes.

Share Mercedes-AMG GT gains aero tweaks from Wald

Following last November’s preview, Wald International has introduced at Tokyo Auto Salon its customization package tailored to the Mercedes-AMG GT.

Wald usually comes out with flashy and ostentatious body kits, but this time the Japanese tuner decided to keep it more restrained. Dare we say it looks rather subtle compared to previous projects as the new Sports Line Black Bison Edition for the Mercedes-AMG has moderate changes. These are noticeable at the front fascia which now hosts a prominent lip spoiler attached to a reshaped bumper featuring side canards.

The back of the car has gone through more significant changes and the most important one is represented by the addition of a fixed wing. A new bumper incorporates a pair of side vents and there’s also a custom exhaust system with dual tips flanking a central diffuser. Rounding off the list of tweaks are the custom wheels, side skirt extensions, stiffer suspension springs, along with orange accents on some of the added goodies.

It’s only a visual package, so the Mercedes-AMG GT continues to feature the same biturbo 4.0-liter V8 delivering 503 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque in the flagship S version. A beefier version likely to wear the “R” suffix will be out this summer with more power, less weight, and active aero.

Renntech Mercedes-AMG GT S Comes With 716hp

Quote:
The tuners from Renntech have worked their magic again on the Mercedes-AMG GT.

Equipped with stainless steel downpipes, high-flow air filters and the Renntech Stage 1 Turbo, the hottest coupe from Mercedes-AMG is now more powerful.

In this case, the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine is capable of sending 716hp (726PS) and 656lb-ft (889Nm) of torque to the rear wheels. While no performance figures have been released yet, it should beat the standard car's 0-100km/h (62mph) time of 3.8sec and possibly improve on the 330km/h (210mph) top speed.

The aftermarket specialist also added a four-corner suspension kit as well, which allows full ride height adjustability and lowering of up to 1.5in for the front and the rear.

The Renntech coilover suspension kit costs $1,980, while for the Stage 1 Turbo Charger, prospective buyers will have to pay $11,880. The price includes the required ECU upgrade.

The power upgrade, called the R1 Performance, is only available for the AMG GT S, despite the C63 sharing the same engine.

700 PS Mercedes-AMG GT S By FAB Design Goes Official

Dressed in white and equipped with numerous upgrades, the Mercedes-AMG GT S Areion is one of the most interesting approaches made to the German sports car.

Responsible for the upgrade package is FAB Design, a Swiss-based tuner, which added a more aggressive and wider front bumper, distinctive air-outtakes and sculpted side skirts and black-finished 9.5x20-inch front and 11x21-inch rear FAB Design Evolution III wheels.

At the rear, it sports a reshaped bumper, new diffuser, quad exhaust pipes and massive wing, while the cabin can come with a plethora of finishes, the only limit being the customer's imagination.

Aside from the new exhaust system, which is said to be more efficient, the Mercedes-AMG GT S Areion benefits from bigger turbochargers added to the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, which produces 190 PS (187 HP) and 375 Nm (277lb-ft) more, to a total of 700 PS (690 HP) and 1,025 Nm (756lb-ft).

FAB Design's tuned GT S will be joined at Geneva by the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe Ethon and the McLaren 650S Vayu GTR Coupe.

Prepare Your Ears For This Howling Mercedes-AMG GT RR

[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXMr4uCUYlU[/ame]

Quote:
If Darth Vader had a car, this would probably be it.

We know, it’s a played out cliché, but this Mercedes AMG GT RR mirrors the fictional character in appearance and sound almost to perfection. Of course, that wasn’t Mercedes’ intention, as any true gearhead would instantly tell you that the vehicle is reminiscent of the original Mercedes Benz 300SL W194, but the matte black hue adds to its villainous character.

The GT RR (like the GT3) is based on Merc’s AMG GT supercar (obviously), but unlike the road-going version, this one is powered by a 6.3-litre, naturally aspirated V8 – taken from the older SLS model – that complies to FIA’s GT3 rules. Furthermore, the AMG GT RR is built for Japan’s Super GT series, and this video announces the vehicle’s 2016 racing debut (the “standard” GT3 model was first unveiled at the 2015 Geneva motorshow), set to hit the track at the Okayama International Circuit.

Meanwhile, we’re waiting for the Mercedes AMG GT R – expected to show up in the metal at the 2016 Goodwood Festival of Speed in June – which will come with active aerodynamics and with a 100 kg (220lbs) weight loss. The overall modifications under the hood will also bump its power close to the 600 HP mark.
