I don't know why people are hating on this boxer engine. Some people are holding 500+ whp on the stock block so far. Built blocks are getting up to 700+whp. It's all about the tune. For reference the WRX STI motor can hold about 400whp in its unbuilt form.

I was out drinking with Mr. Tada (only pretentious clowns call him Tada-san, and it should be Tada-sama anyway to anyone but his boss and drinking buddies) and he told me that the new FR-S is going to be a re-badged LFA. I said "no f-in way", but he was just drunk enough to tell me how they were going to cut 300K off the price of an LFA. Hold off on buying one now, and wait for the '16 is all I can say.

The rumors are not exactly correct, but they are not BS. The Z4 replacement IS built on BMW-Toyota modular sports-car platform, and so will the GT86, direct or indirect replacement, be built on this platform, and Subaru is out. They are working on their new modular platform.

Some people want a reliable engine/tune in stock form and want to keep a warranty. I think everyone is pretty disgusted at how Toyota/Subaru is handling the ECU update debacle. Pretty horseshit to use some random TSB to try to get an ECU update under warranty. I would have gladly paid $5k more for a bullet proof engine in stock form, especially if it also removed that dreaded torque dip.
