I take careful measures to make sure I don't spill gas on people's cars but we are all human and mistakes will be made. Oh and I'm freaking tired of people with Audi's BMW's etc getting 87 octane gas. I mean really of you can afford a 50,000 dollar car you think you could spend the money to put the proper gas in your car.

My '09 328xi called for 91 RON which is equal to 87 here in the states.

Funny enough, i ran into this same issue this past sunday. I was driving back from portland in the newly purchased P5, asked the dude to fill up with premium, realized my beater doesn't need it, said oh wait, make that regular. He'd already started filling the car up with regular.
At my store (wawa) we are not allowed to check engine oil. I believe someone at the company put gas in where the oil goes.

Your own gas?

Dude I can't even find a station that will actually pump gas for me. Seriously!

But in all seriousness don't go full throttle everywhere and you will be fine for a tank.
Exactly. Your car will be pulling timing like crazy trying to keep it out of knock (we're talking IAMs of around a constant .5 or worse), but it shouldn't be noticable if you granny drive/shift it for a tank.

I WOULD put in octane booster next tank before you begin pumping gas, so there's SOMETHING boosting the octane before the fuel lines are flushed of 87.

Edit: I pay about $3.55-$3.70/gal for 91 (highest we can get here.... midgrade is 89). Screw the northeast, your gas prices are as horrendous as CA's.

MP5 is a very expensive option, I prefer a Glock 19 because it can be loaded while carried (most states say open carry of rifles only if unloaded...which is a waste of a show piece).

On point, yes some states don't trust people to pump their own gas, and therefore have to employ people who are professional gas pumpers (aside from this gentleman).

I think it was because people kept setting their cars on fire from getting in and out of their car before they removed the device that automatically stops the pump when full.

MP5 is also a heavy, discontinued option. Give me a 1911 any day :p

And those reasons for not letting folks pump gas are bogus. Just how many fires have been caused by what you describe? Only a very small, insignificant minority. Silly, stupid regulations and taxes is all it is.

Probably "created jobs" for youth "to get them off the street", taxable revenue/paychecks, and gave a regulator a job.

Yea, those static electricity ignitions don't seem to be prevalent in states where it is legal to pump our own gas but they also took away the thing that holds the lever up(at least in NY).
