Interesting, Hmm question is.. Do I cancel and pocket 12 hundred bucks. Or keep it for the added "protection"

How do I go about canceling it? Can I call subaru directly? I'd rather not deal with the dealer anymore.

I think you do have to contact your dealer and they would direct you to the appropiate person. I know for Toyota, I just contacted the financial place and they refunded me the pro rated amount after selling me car. You can contact who ever you financed the car with and try there. Unsure about Subaru though.

I'm sure that the contact information is on the warranty paperwork.

That seems like a ripoff on a $26K car. I paid $750 for a 7yr/70K warranty through Hondacare for my Odyssey which cost $38K and has tons more technology and power features that can break.

The finance guy sounds really pushy, and they still made money off you. Screw his attitude, they are not doing you a favor by selling you a car.

The finance guy gets a commission on all the add-ons and warranties he tries to upsell you. Simple as that.

You make it seem like it's a bad thing. The dealer sold you the car and made money off of you. Does that make it a bad thing? It's like dental insurance. You wouldn't tell everyone not to get dental insurance.

I'm glad you cancelled. When I was offered extended warranty it was an extra $750 (approx.) for a total warranty of 6 year/65k.

When the dealer was trying to sell me on it he said that the extended warranty would cover electrical issues such as A/C, window motor stuff, etc. that the factory warranty does not cover
For those who are still debating extra coverage this may be worth finding out if this is true or not. Everyone has different priorities.

I'm just repeating what I was told, I never actually looked at the fine print myself.

Why wouldn't factory warranty cover that stuff?

Anywho, I was looking over the brochures and it looks like the Gold Plus warranty includes a Road Hazard warranty of upto $300 prorated, which I'm assuming is per tire. Maybe it's time for Super Sports?

Btw, you should be able to get the Gold Plus 7yr/100k warranty for $1300. Hell, for Super Sports alone, it might be worth it!

Between leaking tails, crickets, and weather strip problems, you'll make more than your money back doing those things just once after the initial warranty is up.
