The problem is not drifting or your need to correct the drift. You need to learn to shift in a manner that won't induce the car to slide.

No point in correcting a slide when you should be working on preventing a slide in the first place. Don't get too far ahead on this...

By the way: it may have been dry tonight in SoCal but there was enough of a sprinkle to lift a lot of the oil that's in the pavement.

Nothing to do with TC being off/worn out tires.

Did you notice how worn the tread looks?

Not trying to bash anyone here; I've spun out in heavy rain due to not replacing my tires. And several people around my county died that same morning but I can't blame the slick roads when thousands *didn't* die for driving carefully with properly maintained tires. Seeing how all the posts before me overlooked his tire condition, I felt a need to raise awareness because the *first* thing I'd hope people would suspect is the tires especially with the pic he posted.

We had some rain yesterday so... Rain + Bald Tires = What you get.

I've taken turns at 30 MPH with TC on.... the car begins to slide but TC basically stops it and slaps me back into a normal turn.

Time for some new Tires!!!

OP...Bitch. (You asked for it lol)

Glad you were able to save yourself and your car. Great thing about this car is that a noob can drive it quite well (not saying you're a noob, but if the shoe fits...). This is a great little car and crazy fun on the track. You should take it out and learn your car. Have fun!

Same, This car is super anal about it's TC. I've never had a car that just literately TURNS OFF the second you start sliding it's actually really boring. Which is why I've still never bothered with drifting this car yet.

the tires on these cars so bad that i can get the TC to turn on 1st gear doing a turn ..
my tires are a little more used than his are but i wouldn't call them bald .. ive been keeping an eye on how much i have left on them daily before i go driving them

Huh, interesting you say that, I actually got my car to slide out a bit with the TC on, mind you it was a cold day with salty roads, but it did come around a decent amount. Wasn't due to shifting, I made the car do it to see how it would react. But, you should work on your shifting. Most motorcyclists don't shift when turning when new to the sport because a bad shift can cause exactly that situation (which for a motorcyclist would be sliding on the ground haha). The nannies aren't going to catch everything as others said.

Smoother transition and more fuel efficient shifting from lower gears. I usually get on third when accelerating at around 16-20

Well the tc is a fwd car. My previous can was a 97 avalon and power sliding on that thing felt more easy. Fwd felt like ass was moving for no reason with the fwd system pulling it where you wanted to go. I guess when i hydroplaned it felt completely different.
