Back in the day, kids tried to see how many people they could get into a VW bug or in a phone booth.

Since the old VW bugs are rare and phone booths are even rarer, maybe we should have a contest to see how many people we can get in the back seat of an FR-S/BRZ.

I'll start. Do I see three .... ??

2 seats would improve power:weight ratio, make it seem even more focused a sports car and, thus, cooler. I have a Suzuki hatchback for basic hauling needs and my dad's Tacoma is available in town for larger stuff. Folding the rear seats for more storage has proven to be convenient in some situations but I'd still be willing to sacrifice practicality for a 2 seater and work around it. I've owned 2 seaters before with a second sporty 4 seater SMALLER than my Suzuki and, at the time, no friend/relative in town with a truck (only needed to rent a truck once to pick up a motorcycle). I rarely needed to haul things besides the usual groceries plus when going out w/ friends I had an excuse not to use my cars to carpool.

2 seater = can only pick up 1 chick from the club
2+2 = can pick up 2-3 chicks from the club.

2+2 wins.

IE: you see a chick and her friend and they say you wanna drive us home?
If you have 2 seater: oh sorry my car can only fit 1. She'd probably say it's alright then. I can't ask my friend to take a cab by herself
If you have 2+2: Sure no probs. They'd probably ask you if you'd drop by and continue the party at their place.

I always wonder for kids purpose, whether 86/BRZ can actually fit 1 child booster and 1 stroller as well?

My wife and I suffered thru with our '96 civic for about 3 years when we had or first boy (11 years old now). We finally broke down when our second came along and got a bigger family truckster (RAV4). Once the little ones can fasten their own seat belts it's no problem.

I wouldn't have bought this vehicle if it wasn't a 2+2. As a father of 2,we can still wing it if I need to drive the family anywhere in spring or summer. On the other hand my xB is an awesome family hauler winter car.

I daily drive & use this car for work. I've taken a 6 foot ladder to worksites on numerous occasions. When Moto-P was asking for input from Club4AG about suggestions on the new Toyota, I put in that it should have folding rear seats and preferably a hatch, something to make it more practical. That was part of the appeal of the original AE86. Sporty, but quite practical.
I think there may be something with import taxes in addition to insurance? I think that's why you don't see imported 2 door SUVs except for a short period a ways back.
