Wagons are almost extinct. And three door hatchbacks are rare. Some people blame the favoring of SUVs and Crossovers that meet the interior requirements to get favorable CAFE credits.

You can get a custom hardtop for a roadster though. Especially for the Miata. While I haven't seen a hatchback version, yet. It's certainly possible to get one made.

Note: This a NB with a fastback. The trunk comes completely off.

Fiesta?

I've been trying to find a wagon for my gf and proposing stuff like above just gets a laugh followed by "that's not a wagon".
The Impreza hatchback is technically a small wagon. The Fiesta hatchback on the other hand, is not. I would recommend the Focus over the sub-compact Fiesta though. As far as interior volume goes.

Since you're looking for a wagon, Subaru still offers the Outback. It's technically a SUV now.

I was so surprised to learn the 86 isn't a hatchback. I think I finally found out when I went to test drive one in mid to late 2012. Not sure why you would make a coupe have a little trunk lid instead of a big hatch, but I'm actually glad they did from a weigh savings and stiffness standpoint. If I was trying to DD this thing, I'd be mad as hell about that.

I've put many crazy things in my Tiburon, thanks to it being a hatch.

Also, "hatch" doesn't have to mean "wagon." Coupe FTW.

Yes. To me, they are wagons. Just like a Caprice Classic used to be a wagon. Just like the Acura TSX I saw tonight, is a wagon.

I would love it so much more if the FRS was a hatchback. With louvers!

Just what exactly are you talking about, Willis?

EDIT: Oh! Nevermind. I get it. Haha I thought you were saying the FR-S/BRZ could have been a hatchback, except backseats would stop that. As if they can't fold down. Now I see what you meant though. Zing indeed! It should consider itself lucky to have a passenger seat. Can't say the same for the FR-S...

Yes, my 65 year old mother has been browsing the classified looking for a WRX with the liftback. A four door no matter how fast it is still a four door, add a liftback and its a wagon.

No she has a 98 Imprezza wants something newer and of course 275hp.

When I was a kid it didn't matter how fast a car was it just wasn't cool to drive a 4 door until you were over 60, funny how things have changed .

Haha that's awesome. When my grandma was 65, you couldn't have convinced her to get behind the wheel of a 275hp car.

This is just her winter car, her baby is an '88 E30 325is with antique plates that looks like it just came off the show room floor.

She's a short Italian lady and my Dad used to call her Mario (Andretti) when we were kids, she can still drive with the best of us

Dang. Sounds like your mom is SERIOUS. You should get her to join the forums! Haha she can get on and talk shit. Don't know if she'd be into that or not, but it would be hilarious if she did.

I purposefully hold onto this belief so I don't move to the suburbs, get a "crossover" and lose my edge. (tongue in cheek, I realize there's some cool 4-doors out there)

My first car was an old dodge daytona. Hauled a 4 wheler home from a yard sale sticking out the back end once.

I might have a problem with hatchbacks/wagons.

For the first time in a LONGTIME both my cars are sedans. When I have the space it'll be another 74-79 Rabbit 2 door on carbs and a lumpy 8v
