Good to note. I was leaning toward the Rivals for my next set but maybe I will take a second look at the ZIIs. The Hankooks are great for STX where you can have a lot of camber but I have to run mine at 45psi in the front to keep off the corners with only the 1* (ish) legal in stock form.

Other than these cheater tires, you won't see much shaving I feel. The RS3 is best after 1-2 event break in. ZIIs as well. Relatively consistent until down to ~3/32 left. Though we may see the field change as new tires are developed specifically for the rules
Just to add information, my ZIIs were worn almost to/at the wear bars (is that 3/32"?) at Nationals. I ran RTR and thought they lacked some grip, probably too far gone for this event/course. They also feel a little harder at this wear level, probably just because of the lack of rubber. They did not grip well at all on the west course (80's, cloudy and spitting rain). I lowered the air pressure to 34F/32R and the rear end seemed to stay in place much better, but still not confidence inspiring. They did seem to grip better on Friday, 93 and sunny on the east course. If I make it to Lincoln again I will have a fresher set of ZIIs. Looking at the overall results, I still think they are competitive in the street tire classes at Lincoln.

I'd definitely say they are letting go around that 3/32" then. I havent had any that low on ZIIs. I know my RS3s were decent down to 1/32, didn't really feel significant drop until 2-3/32 but they were still usable (that was local events mind you).

The Rivals seem to work pretty well everywhere except Lincoln... If you are normally running on asphalt they will work well.

I'm hoping the 235/40 R1R gets banned because it might be the tire to have on a C-Street BRZ but nobody wants to run a tire that only lasts 20 runs.

This. This. This.

In ST*, it's going to be legal, like the 195/50, I feel.
But in RT/Street, this needs to be banned, just like the 195/50/15 is.

Where do I send letters to the SEB? That part is new to me.

I never heard that about the 235 Toyos. Good to know.

I am personally still sticking with the Rivals. I like the feel and I don't drive on concrete in my region.

Definitely. Not a lot of point in switching to street tires if you gotta have a new shaved set every 20 runs to stay competitive.

I wrote the SEB asking this be reviewed and hopefully banned. Quoting my letter below if anyone wants to see it for any points to make in their own. Please write them to see if this can be rectified before C-Street becomes ruined on it's first year out.

Quote:
It came to my (and many others') attention this past week at Nationals that there is an additional R1R with an R Compound underneath. You've already banned the 195/50/15 from RTR/Street and I would really like to see this tire removed as well (it appears to be the same compound as the banned 195/50). 235/40/17 Toyo R1R is the tire I'm referring to.
Street class cannot afford sets of $800 tires that last 20-25 competitive runs. This would completely ruin the class, making it cost more than any set of Hoosiers could dream of. I refer to the STX Nationals winner, who tested a borrowed set during the TnT days then overnighted a set in to run an RX8 up to the front, over all of the incumbents (when RX8s generally are back a few spots from the BRZs and E36s).
I hope this is brought up for the next meeting and FastTrack.
Thank you
-Henry Clark
