He doesn't deserve your business. Go somewhere else where they will work with you.

The guy doesn't seem worth the time. Complain or ask for a different sales guy, or shop around elsewhere, tons of dealers tons of salesmen.

For the Grad Rebate I had to get my school to fax a form that said I was expected to graduate within the 4 four months. Me printing my transcript and all that was no good. It only cost me $15 and I got the rebate. Talk to your Admissions/Registrar's office and see if they have something like that.

You can put your story on Yelp or cars.com give them one star, that's always get the dealer attention.

Even if there is more to the story (and I suspect there is) before you got to the point of negotiating the trade and rebate he shouldn't have banged his fist on the table or said you can't afford a certain car. If your dad had to ask the price...then it's one of those dealerships where they don't price the cars so they can deliberately alter the prices when they think they have a sucker on the line.

Complaining to the dealership manager probably won't make a difference if they're the type of place that doesn't advertise the prices but you can try. Honestly the best they'll do is offer you a deal you can't refuse then the first time you take it for service you'll have a shit experience so I wouldn't bother. Find another dealer and put this one in the blacklist thread and write nasties on Yelp! and google reviews, etc.

Talked to sales manager he apologized and said they would talk to the salesman, I don't think he really cared. It was World Toyota/Scion near Atlanta. Now reporting this to Toyota/Scion.

Toyota/Scion customer service will listen politely, open a complaint, and then funnel you back to the dealer "customer service rep" who is a glorified punching bag that has zero power (in my experience with Ford and Scion) unless you have something with legal weight to it. Sales run dealerships.

Best case scenario is they'll sell you the car you want (hopefully using a different salesman).

Capitalism is simple, go to another dealer (ideally not owned by the same people), never set foot on that dealer lot again. Personally I hope I never have to buy a Toyota again after the runaround it took to buy my car.

Edit: Certainly file the complaint, if they have a large enough backlog something might actually happen but I'd rather see the place go out of business.

If a salesperson ever told me "Don't ask, you can't afford it" I would get very upset and definitely find a superior. No salesperson should ever disrespect a customer! Even if they think Ford makes the Camaro and Chevy makes the Mustang lol
