I like the FR-S bumper styling better, the 86 badges on it, and the suspension better anyways.
That was a great deal. Something tells me the dealer made a mistake in the paperwork and forgot to add the Bespoke to the cost.

It seems like there are a few states that suck for buying a Subaru and Texas is one of them. It would be much cheaper to buy out of state and have it shipped.

Fuck that.

Am I the only one who would have bought an FRS regardless of price difference?

I hate navigation systems
I hate touch screens
I hate HID's
I hate leather
And I have no need for heated everything or "homelink mirrors" or whatever.

And stay off my lawn.

inb4 toyota master race, I couldn't care less. If the BRZ was spec'd like the FRS and the GT86 was sold here spec'd like the BRZ I would have bought a BRZ. (Well the Subaru dealers probably would have put a damper on it, but I would have went out of state)

Just out of curiosity, why do you hate HIDs? I can think of reasons for all of the others, but not that one.

Blue isn't better for increasing vision during night:

Edit: this was the first thing I found when I googled HID and visibility keywords, I can dig up more if you like.

So it's just cranking up the brightness, which annoys the hell out of me, I do a lot of night time driving and all of my vehicles are relatively low. Every time I drive a car with HID's I feel like my high beams are on all the time except for the cutoff bit, if I need to see extra distance I use the high beams, that's what they're for. I feel better with halogens because they don't annoy other drivers and allow me to see well.

Factor in the initial cost difference and it's a no brainer for me.

You can talk about how if they're set up properly and balast yada yada, I don't like the trend (fucking tesla's look great until they're tailgating you at midnight) and I hope it goes away. I'm not going to tell everyone to die in a fire for using them, I just don't like them and I put my money where my mouth is.

For me it wasn't the base price that threw me off. It was the 5.9% interest vs the 2.9% interest that Toyota had.

400 dollar a month payments vs 500 essentially.

To be fair, improperly set up halogen lights (using those 6000K+ xenon's) are just as bad.

I wish these people would read the science behind it and realize that just because it LOOKS brighter doesn't mean you can see any more.

FR-S - what's that??
BRZ - what's that??
I bought the "real deal" - a genuine Toyota!!
The only 86 that's actually called "86"

Cool down - just joking - LOL.

Being a 2x Scoobie owner (still got both of them), I actually wanted a BRZ, but they've only just been released in South Africa recently, and there's no way I was gonna wait.

Also the BRZ is a lot more expensive over here. Sure, it's higher spec with a longer warranty and maintenance plan, but not to that extent.

No regrets. And if I had a BRZ or FR-S (which we don't get here), I'd also have no regrets. Comme ci, comme ça, whatever...

Brilliant car, in any of it's many guises.

No need for more info, I'm done a fair share of researching automotive lighting, and Daniel Stern is pretty much the go-to when people want a source of "how come the HID kit in my 95 Civic is blinding everyone?" I absolutely loved the HID setup on my MKV GTI. I did a lot of night driving when I owned it, out in the countryside where I had no street lights and there were deer everywhere, but enough traffic that I couldn't run highs all the time. But yes, it's very much a matter of getting the beam pattern correct with no or minimal hot spots, and the drop-in kits that really are just "cranking up the brighness" annoy me.

I don't see them going away though. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if they eventually became the standard with LED being the step up. Or maybe LED becoming standard, who knows? Not just for safety's sake, but efficiency as well.
