I punched the spot welds to fix mine, but apparently peopel are getting the same result with spraying white lithium grease in the overlap under there. Even easier solution.

Change the fluids right away is my recommendation.

After the 1000 miles break in is done, change out engine/trans/diff oils.

Just look at it this way....you have a brand new car with a WARRANTY!!! if you have an issue it gets fixed and you drive a rental for a few days...basically any make model vehicle you buy can potentially have an issue so if your that scared use public transportation or ride a bycycle.

Just FYI I'm the OP of this thread and I've had my car since July, almost to 5k miles and I love it to death. No problems yet, none expected either.

Not sure how this thread got necroed but wanted to let you guys know that I'm no longer worried.

Kind of off topic but I used to be prescribed klonopin, ativan and valium for several years and quitting was a nightmare but I feel 1000x better without medication. Benzos are the fucking devil

I'm just past my break-in period and can't fault the car apart from the head unit occasionally not connecting to my phone via bluetooth.

I was worried about the way the engine has little 'heart murmurs' while you're sitting idling, but I've never owned a car with a boxer engine before and assume it is part of it's nature.

Like everyone is saying, just drive it, enjoy it and if anything happens we've got our warranty. We both have a new car but we also have more peace of mind knowing that the manufacturer is hopefully on top of all the first generation build issues. Props to everyone who has lived through the 1st gen issues and made our lives easier.

Today is "worry about your car and how you want to keep it no matter what" day. Your thread seems to fit that bill.
