ALL [modern] Subarus are 60 degree cone tapered from the factory. Go use your stock lug nuts and seat them onto a wheel as a test if you don't believe me, or vice versa. The AREA of the seat on the stock nuts is significantly smaller, but that's about it.

i looked at a stock nut but i dont have anything to compare it too with out pulling one off the car.
I was told when I bought my wheels to get lug nuts aswell because they were unsure of the stock seat type. i have since searched and all i could find was people saying subaru is 60 degree. no body saying the twins were actually 60 degree.

The lug nuts style and thread pitch on these cars are all Subaru. The stock lug nuts are identical to the leftovers from my last two Subies. I have no idea why I ended up with so many stock lug nuts...

in fact i have a set waiting to go on my rabbit track car when the cage is done so i can run aftermarket wheels. i would take a pic but they are a long way from home at the shop.
link to a set on ebay.

Good point... most of the stud conversions I dealt with before in the past were straight 14/14mm studs, since they run wheels meant for German cars and didn't deal with wheels drilled for 12mm.

Either way, the most important thing for this thread is:

- Plenty of wheels available
- FRS/BRZ is niche market car, and wheel companies will eventually come out with newer designs, demand-permitting
- Beware of online fitment guides, not everything is accurate and/or easily swapped around.

60mm tapered means you can run any lug with a 60 degrees seat (95%+ of all lug nuts for cars on the market)... Really, the only issue lies with the openings for lug nuts on the wheel.

Some wheels must use a skinny tuner-type lug nut with an internal hex socket, others are skinny lugs that use 17mm sockets. But in reality there's only about 3 major types of lug seats:

- acorn/tapered (usually 60 degrees)
- mag seat w/ washer
- ball seat

This is a good summary:

Also guilty of checking out the 5x100 section on the vortex.

Understandable. This car is a mix-match of parts anyway. But it sounds like the shop just wanted to sell you lug nuts, they should have known better.

I've seen lots of Scion TC folks selling wheels on the Subaru boards, might want to browse scionlife or whatever it's called for more options.

Huh? Did you quote me on accident? I stated that I know this.

And yeah, gotta watch out for the diameter of the lug nuts. I have a set of Drag DR-31s in the garage that have different sizes for the 5x100 and 5x114.3 holes. My Project Kics nuts fit fine for one bole pattern, but are too fat for the other. Had to use Gorilla spline drives. Splines are the best bet for clearance. Even some of Drag's lug nuts don't fit their own wheels, and not because of seat type, just diameter of the nut seat.

You also have to be able to get a socket around the nut (nut to wall of pocket clearance). This can be a pain if you have locking lug nuts with a special socket that may or may not fit.

Can we just stop talking about nuts? Makes me feel weird...
