The UEL on the road cars will be down to: - Cost - Packaging - Marketing Engineers get little say on production cars. |

I am on the same boat as some people, I want the rumble but I also want the most power. So at this moment, I am just waiting on 3rd party to test and compare and go from there. If money grew on trees then I would've gotten the JDL header, but with that being said, I am patiently waiting to see if somebody can make a UEL that will surpass it.

well in CA technically removing any cats is a no no let alone replacing with high flow cats. My advice is to keep stock front pipe and headers. When time for smog after 5 years, just put them back on. Even intakes are illegal in CA unless its CARB approved. My advice if you go with an UEL that removes main CAT, be sure to get a front pipe thats catted! This way you won't get pulled over by a cop(you hope) for emissions. Its a big fine in CA if you get caught with factory cats removed without a good reason.

I'm going to have an insanely hard time deciding what front pipe, overpipe, and headers I put on my car... I'm currently running the M7 t-titan catback and I absolutely love the sound it makes. Don't want to mess with the sound and get an end result that's insanely loud.

Nevermind that UEL make as much power as EL manifolds on our car. Theory > Real World?

The above was a real-world example, not an apples and oranges comparison on a forum.

Also, WRC cars run $250,000 sequential transmissions and twin scroll turbos with anti-lag. They are not a real-world anything, it's a freaking full blown race car. There have been countless comparisons in EJ land between EL and UEL. Consensus is pretty much you'll gain a handful of HP with EL and sacrifice the subaru sound. BY handful of HP, I mean about 1%. So maybe 2hp on our cars. |

That's nothing different to what I am suggesting. Not really sure why you are arguing. I'm not hear to stop you though.

You said uel on road cars is about cost, packaging or marketing. As if they don't make any power. They've proven so far to be just as good or better than many el designs. Supersprints el design is most similar to wrc manifolds and it made jack compared to even borlas flawed uel product. Until proven otherwise, the whole el vs uel debate on this car and motor is purely about aesthetics, cost and emissions. Or kindly provide some evidence.

Will uel be louder than el with the same setup or will they be same volume but just sound differently?

Hard to say since there are so many variables. Uel tends to seem louder because the exhaust note is lower frequency and tends to drone more than el since it causes more resonance with body panels. Kind of like when you are in too low of a gear and try to take off.
