Then it wasn't stuck. The problem comes when the filter is stuck and now you have a half-ripped-off filter and an undriveable car.

In any event, there a half dozen good suggestions as to what to use in lieu of a proper filter wrench.

Have any of you guys used one of these on your FRS/BRZ? If so, were you able to get all of the oil out?

The reason I ask is because I've found that this pump doesn't work on some cars due to the way the dip stick tube is routed. (didn't work on my A6, but was perfect on my NSX and Supra)

I could not get mine off. Took my F350 took the wench and strapped it to filter.
Cracked the fukin block in two. So much torque, could tow boats, mobile homes etc.
Got the filter off end of story.

It's sitting in a little tray--no need to worry about spilling anything. When you unscrew it, most of it will be already drained out (because it's mounted "upside down") but a little oil will drip into the tray. This car is the easiest/cleanest oil change I have ever done

Just get an oil filter plier. Its like $5-$20 at local parts store or even at wal-mart. You get the grip you need and leverage to take off the filter. I'm a mechanic and this is what I use on 90% of the cars for oil changes. Unless its a stupid new Toyota or European car with the stupid canister filter.

Use the force young padawan. Just like we did on your frontpipe/overpipe connection.

Hey I lift, I also saw this thread earlier and thought that there were many pansies in this forum. TWIST THAT FILTER YOU BUNCHA AH PANSIEEES!!!

So I changed my oil today.... Had to go to pepboys to get a filter cap... but not before creating a little preassure sore on the palm of my hand. I screamed liked he-man, huffed and puffed, GIRAHHHHHHHHHH AHHHHHHHHHHHH GRRRRRAAAAAHAHAAHAAAJJGGFTT. Even tried a large plumbing wrench and badly deformed that damned filter... nope. Im a pansie. Took .2 seconds to get it off with the filter cap. 5$

Screw-baru OEM filters are always *stupid* tight. This is my fourth new scooby and it was by far the easiest of the four (I guess the spin on the filter Sumo-giant on the line finally got carpal tunnel, uses his "weak" hand now, lol) but still too tight.

This http://tinyurl.com/ny25a69 has never been defeated... what I've used for last 15 years or so.

First oil change I used an oil filter cap. You can find one at Auto Zone but I think Pep Boys has more to choose from. I would get a sturdy one, not the cheap plastics for they tend to strip. Good luck

Ok, for the men too manly to buy specialized tools and want their oil changed 5 min ago here is your plan.

About 1 1/2 inches down the filter take a long screwdriver and go all the way through her. Your filter now has a handy handle that you can either muscle into release or hammer loose. Youll never need a tool again (assuming youve bought the worth while fumoto valve). Any questions ask youtube and google.
