I came from a '07 BMW 335i with a JB3, so roughly about 350 crank HP. As someone mentioned earlier, I only really miss the power on the open highway. In any case, the FR-S feels so much more nimble and precise. It's just straight up fun to drive on as a daily basis.

Not that it was really "mine" and not that I have a BRZ yet, but I was leasing a 2012 Audi S4, which is (under)rated at 333bhp and dynos at 300whp. Didn't make the transition right away, now I'm in a slow-as-t**s E30 BMW. Supercharged V6 power is really nice, especially on the highway, but having a car that can throw it's weight around effortlessly is much better. I had to put in serious effort keeping up with a friend's 150hp 240SX in the twisties; 3800lbs is a lotta weight!

Had a 2005 Nissan Xterra. Nothing crazy but had some Nismo cosmetic mods.

Stage 2 sti. Definitely miss the power when diving the brz. But I miss the handling when I drive the sti. I have both so it's sort of a win win.

Nothing crazy, just an STI. I'm surprised how many folks are coming from 500+ hp monsters, Godzillas, etc.

My previous was a 2009 E92 M3, that I got new, with a butt-ton of aftermarket. In the end she spent so much time in the shop and ended up costing me so much (two DCT transmissions..) I wanted something practical but handles just as well. I tried to keep her for a while but I ended up selling her not too long ago.
My next car will be a project since I think my GF wants to sell her A5 S-Line and that will end up costing me a pretty penny. |

Something made me proud when I realized that. But going fast is completely desensitizing. When you have the power to hit 130+ on the onramp, uphill, at high elevation, everything else feels slow. And I'm loving every minute of it! |

i came from a 2004 Toyota Celica GT with the 4-speed auto. It was slow... really slow, i had to struggle just to pass anything on the road. It was also extremely loud!! could not believe how much quieter the FR-S is compared, especially when i kept hearing people say it was a loud car... The celica was stock with a factory body kit, but when it was new it was putting out about 140HP in the engine, felt like it maybe had 100HP. Still somewhat have the car, it's my sister car now.

A 400 hp Sonic Blue Ford Lightning was my last daily driver with probably 500 lbs of torque so I miss the torque that that thing had..... that's the only thing that I miss. Oh and the sound of the supercharged V8 too the rumble and the wine almost made it worth the 13 mpg highway that I was getting with that truck. I also still have a 1JZ swapped Sc300 but it is in the shop and I will probably sell it when I get it back. The last car that I had that I can compare the BRz too is my 2003 G35 6mt. Honestly I think they have about the same acceleration but the main thing is that the BRZ has no torque but the torque from the VQ in the G35 makes it feel faster than it really is. In the handling dept this is the best car that I have ever owned, the g35 is way to heavy and the SC300 is way too long and heavy too. I got a chance to drive a turbo FR-s yesterday and I cant wait to turbo mine in a year or 2 great low end torque, acceleration was amazing and we all know that the chassis of this car is great.

RX7 is a great project car, but it will never be a solid DD, it'd never be a car I can go on a massive road trip with and not have to think about what happens if it breaks down. The only thing the RX7 beats the FR-S for (for me) is power of course, but once the FR-S is boosted I don't think I'll ever look back. |
