this really isn't the neon though. it's the same segment in their lineup as the neon. but it's an entirely different car based on an Alfa Romeo.

Chrysler/Dodge is owned by Fiat now.
AWD Neon? No, I dont think so. Details?

Yeah I'm not sure how good the AWD system will be in this car. It sure is welcomed to have another competitor on the block, but I would risk the assumption that Subaru's AWD > this system's setup.

I was pretty sure the Dart was FWD... I was pretty sure I wasn't smoking crack that day either, so what gives?

Yeah the Dart is FWD. That is why I am confused/curious as well. I don't see any mention of AWD in the MT article. It was just HitTheGas who mentioned it. But I don't see any confirmation of that. Doubt Dodge would do this.

i just got there somehow. probably it was the 22 hours w/ no sleep + them talking about it competing w/ the STi & Golf R which are AWD.

for that price i would think it would have to be. Because you can get a charger which is bigger, roomier, & has way more hp for that price.

I would wait a couple years on this one. I'm not one "keener" to test new European platforms transferring over to the North American market. I find there is above average quirks with said models, which will have to be sorted out in time. It will be better then the Caliber for obvious reasons (; it's not hard to beat). The SRT I'm not going to bench race yet because it's just speculated figures.

This thing won't be AWD. The regular dart is FWD and this is supposed to fill the gap the neon SRT-4 left behind. As far as thing thing being a force to be reckoned with... I wouldn't doubt it. Like it or not the neon SRT-4 was running with Vette's with some reasonable modification.

Time will tell guys.

Nobody expected the new Charger to have an AWD option, and it does.

Why doesn't anyone do the normal thing and make them RWD?

Oh that's what this is? Then I drove one on a business trip to Italy last year. The one I drove had a little diesel in it. It was alright. Not what I would really consider sporty but then it was a rental and different engine than this thing will come with.

It definitely was sort of bloated to be considered a competitor for the FRS/BRZ. It had a good sized back seat and trunk. We fit three people and their luggage for a week in it (it was packed very tight). I would say it is more a competitor for the Impreza, Civic, etc. Even sported up I think comparing it to the BRZ is sort of apples and oranges.

This. So this. Why don't we have RWD hot hatches? Would increase cost a little but fun factor would increase. I know FWD is more predictable bla bla bla. Give me RWD.

Are the British mags just being nationalistic when they rip on the quality of the Italian cars? They make them sound like the Chrysler of Europe, oddly enough.
