I'd say that it'll be a close race.

Wish I was there to watch and troll you both when you finally find out.

I've been told several times by the more senior AutoXers at my local event that you don't always want to go fast to be fast. Blowing a corner at the exit of a fast straight will cause you to lose all of the time you gained by going fast.

Good luck.

Is there any way you can get someone to get any of the STI vs. FRS stuff on video? Times would be nice but I would really love to watch a video and see for myself which car (or driver) was quicker. I've enjoyed following this thread, gets me excited knowing that the little guy has a shot at taking down the goliath.

If the setup you are competing on will be that fast you are in trouble. When are you shifting in that video?

STI gearbox has shitty ratios for autocross.

But more mid-range grunt. It works some of that problem out.

True, but with those shitty ratios and the larger turbo (vs WRX) I've heard people complain of spool issues during autocross.

i doubt that the ratios are messed up enough to take you out of boost. it doesnt matter whether its autocross or the autobahn. the ratios were designed for the car. it shouldnt ever be an issue where you are running into lag in a competitive environment (unless youre into 1st gear territory but thats also going to be a problem for any other car). even when you are not in the desired rpm range, im willing to bet you are making more hp and tq than the frs. people will just find excuses.

not saying the sti will beat the frs. i think it will but i have no idea.

Driver>car. Had a buddy with a n/a 08 lancer (150 fwhp) smokin' evo's at infineon (Low Budget Crew) a long time ago, before he sold it and got his S13.
Works motorsports can vouch for that too

We are not talking about 1/4 mile races, the understeer from an AWD is a big disadvantage when come to autox. Unless they decide to do some modifications to the suspension to make the car oversteer a little more.

With that being said, with the same driver, I think the STi would beat the FRS by only half a second or less. op, go do it!
