If the bodies are identical I'll just take the one that's cheaper (including options and insurance). If the bodies are slightly different I'm leaning towards the BRZ based on the concept that was shown today. A few days after November 30th and I'll probably have decided where my deposit is going.

I'm in the "too early to tell" camp right now. The cost of ownership will matter [MSRP + insurance], however if the aesthetics sway me one way or the other, or there are features I prefer, that'll sway me too.

I'm thinking BRZ because it is essentially a Subaru built Boxer engine, that the Toyota dealers are going to take a while to learn the engine, Subaru have perfected the Boxer and they know the ins and outs of the motor. The obvious choice is Subaru BRZ for service and maintenance and just general customer satisfaction

Since this will be a RWD car, I would like the "safer" choice if there is a difference. I think there was a rumor that subaru tested this vehicle in lots of snow, and said that it could go 50 mph with no problem. THAT is important to me, above performance and price.

Compare the two cars (looks wise anyway), as we all know front bar is the only major real difference betweem them.

I cannot think of a greater competition...

To me the 86 front looks meaner, more aggressive. I simply don't like the black bar on the Subie front. I think the interior and build will be better than the Subie, so I would try to fit a Toyota/Scion front bar on the Subie. I'd probably get the Scion/Toyota though because it will probably be cheaper.

EWWWWWWWWW
After seeing all the pics, Scion sucks compared to the BRZ. I was not expecting that... HVAC is shit, radio is shit, on the front bar the 2 grills on the side looks very cheap on the Scion. However, if the cost is justified (like $5000) less than the BRZ it's acceptable. You can just buy all the Toyota parts you want from the 86 and put it on your FR-S. |
