Wonder if OP found pages 178 and 400 of the owner's manual yet.

The best solution.
Just another reason to option the car with a manual, Option is unavailable. Makes for a quicker RTFM time and you don’t have to get harsh snappy opinions on how to disable the fantastic safety tech you paid for that most people seem to want these days. Quite a an original suggestion to RTFM I found the section on what to do when trapped on a railroad track quite appropriate to the many who think they are the greatest drivers and may have been responsible for the tech to be imposed onto the masses whether we like it or not! Im quite pleased that this is in the manual to begin with… Im surly not the only one who respects the train tracks even if the vehicle is considered safe by the automotive guru’s at consumer reports. About the Hammer solution, Im kind of biased to that as it was the foundation of my toolbox but you always seem to need a bigger hammer as the problem solving gets more complex and when the Hammer solution is a bit extreme the second part of my tool set includes ducktape. |

But I already do that whenever VSC kicks in. The manual forgot to mention the cussing part. Not sure if it helps.

Just think what the world would be like if you HAD to RTFM before being allowed to buy a vehicle.

Yep. Nobody needs to read every word of a manual. Hitting the basic features and knowing where to look for questions is really all that is needed.
People may learn some very interesting things about the car if they even just skim the manual.

Or you could just screw around with the dash(or infotainment) options and see it there. Yes I've read the manual too. |

For almost 20 years now going into the options menu is the very first thing I do when I pull into my driveway after bringing a new car home. Sometimes I have had to reference the manual to find out how to even get to the options but most of the time they are right there in your face just by pushing buttons. In the case that started this thread the OP could have answered his own question with about three button pushes or 5 minutes reading. Of course even suggesting such an indecent act means...

The baffling thing is that he went to the effort of finding this forum, creating an account, and then asking a question that - had he utilized a FRACTION of that total effort into a Google search or a quick flip through the manual would have answered the question.
And then, he gets all snippy because the world didn't promptly conform to his imagined outcome. I fully understand the world is (almost?) entirely populated with idiots, but so many of them also treat laziness like their national past-time that it's still confusing to see them go out of their way to avoid the simple, low-effort solution. |
