Parts of Canada maybe but not here.

did it take long to get the alarm fixed ?
My alarm fix was quick, maybe 15 minutes.
I tested that too- sat in my car and locked the car with the key in the "off" position. If I then open the door or even start the car, the alarm will go off. BUT, if I lock the car AFTER I turn the key to the "on" position so that the radio functions etc. then I can unlock or start the car without the alarm going off.

I see.. thats what the guy said when I called them yesterday that it will be a quick fix and im out..then when I got there they gave me a BS that I need an apointment..drove all the way there for nothing..waste of gas and time.. today they suppose to call me and get that alarm set up right. . Not even sure if the alarm is even installed in the first place only thing that works are the buttons on the key to open/close door and pop trunk..also get my expensive window tint re worked.. not sure if alarm/tint can be done in one day.. just want my things done and over with and never go back to that dealer again.. services are rushed and not right..

meh ive owned alarms on my two previous cars and both still got broken into. smash n grab people dont care about honking horns. and any pro car theif who really wants the car will get it anyway. ive given up on alarms just keep things out of sight and dont park in shady places. every time i hear an alarm in a parking lot i just assume its someones annoying alarm giving off a false alarm. and if it was a real thief how many people would go out of their way to go see whats up?

verizon has a camera that i can put on my deck (3rd floor) that will connect to my computer. really should get one. i think getting their license plate # or good visual of their vehicle would be more important than scaring them off.

also, isn't there a way to match your phone or a website with a way to immobilize your car, if it's stolen? other than lo-jack, i mean

My FR-S apparently rolled off the truck with an alarm, but I had to pay to have it activated. It's the standard alarm noise and engine killswitch setup, with a flashing blue light under the dash. If you park on the street a lot (e.g. in your neighborhood, at work, etc) or don't park in a garage, I would suggest springing for one. Not only does it deter the petty thieves when they see the alarm light/stickers, but mine apparently came with a certificate that pretty much guarantees a discount on my insurance due to the killswitch for the engine.
Now the only thing I'm paranoid about is someone dinging/keying the car :|

Yep, no charge. They don't even include it as normal maintenance so I didn't have to wait with the other people. Just call the dealership to make sure their alarm person is available.

I've thought about getting a Viper alarm or something along those lines. My problem is i don't want to carry around a big remote as well as the "smart" key. Just makes for more weight and taking up alot of pocket space. Maybe i'll check on those Alarms that work through the Smartphones again.

Alarms aren't quite as useful as they used to be. People are so used to hearing them go off all the time and they tend to ignore them.

People still use car alarms. Wow. Ok. Well I'm good without. No one pays attention to them anyways so what's the point.
