Personally, you might want to look at it solipsistically. Safe driving comes from within.

You would have to know the exact root cause of each accident and then break the deaths out into those causes to be able to make any comparison based on deaths. The variables are infinite and non comparable as a whole. There just is no science behind saying that X car is safer because there are less deaths no matter how obvious it seems on the surface. The reason that some cars are higher and some lower can be attributed more to the demographic of the drivers than the actual safety of the car. That is why insurance rates vary more by age, location and driving history than by what kind of car it is. Hell the value of the car plays more of a part in setting insurance rates than how many deaths there were.

It is kind of funny that before Obama became president, I liked him more after reading not an autobiography, but a biography of his life. An author claimed his father died of suicide. Yet, it was also just classified simply as an automobile accident, resulting in a fatality in an interesting state.
Apparently men in their 40's today have the highest rate of suicide now.

I'm only suggesting a chicken dinner here, but I've even thought about universal healthcare and privatized health care in all of this as part of the equation. Even the NFL had an official stand on it.

Brock Lesnar once said somewhere along the lines that Canadian healthcare is comparable to a third world country. Maybe he had a bad day, but it is something I am conscious about. >end rant<

Well shit! If the NFL had a stand on it, then it MUST be accurate!

Went from 13 BRZ to 16 WRX to 17 BRZ.
Insurance went up a few dollars each time.

It's really hard to compare apples to apples since there's lots of factors that come into determining the rate.

When I bought my first FR-S in 2013 the insurance was cheaper than any of the other cars I had fully insured.... even the Prius (somehow?).

A few years and a few cars later... it was a bit more expensive to insure my BRZ, over a 14 EVO MR touring. A car nearly double the value.

The agent didn't think it made sense either. After doing more research on it, he found out the amount of wrecks and cost to fix the BRZ and FR-S had been astronomical...

LOL Glad to help. Obviously dropping that many years impacts the rate. Apples to cucumbers.

I was told the same, this was guessed as well at my insurance place. they made no mention of safety being an issue, they said it was not at all, that they did not notably pay any more for medical damages, but they said it was expensive when it got into an accident/accidents it gets into tend to be more destructive and pricey to repair. I wonder why people are getting into so many accidents in a car that can avoid them better than any car out that is reasonably priced.

They push their car beyond their driving abilities because they want to drive fast and think they're better than they are. Or they push the car beyond the car's abilities because they want to drive fast and they don't recognize what the car is or is not capable of. Or someone else hits them and there's nothing they can do about it.

Basically, people driving too fast.

i guess speed is the thing. Test driving two of them for short runs, i know it made me want to see all it could do. Glides around so easily. I did a hairpin turn on a poorly designed highway city ramp, it made the turn almost 160 degrees with no body roll or tire noise. sick car. can't wait!
