I also need to make a how to carefully take the stereo in and out diy thread. Perfectionists out there will want to know how to avoid little scratches and to not cross thread the mount screws (they seem to be made of pot metal despite having a grade 8 stamp on them. |

BTW, I am not sure that is how it works but I assume that that is indeed how it works.
I have scratched my silver panels around the climate control but I plan to Alcantara the crap out of it so it doesn't bother me that much. |

I wired things up correctly...harness pin to reverse to switch to ground. I even checked the continuity of the circuit with a multimeter. It turns out this doesn't work. Maybe reverse is a PWM signal. That would be odd though. I'll triple check in the morning when I'm not so tired. (I checked that the reverse signal wasn't working by going into the diag menu. I also checked that the reverse video input was working int he diag menu. It wasn't the proble.) Or maybe it isn't looking for a ground and it's looking for a power signal (from the reverse lights). Checked it with a multimeter this morning. If I put the multimeter on the reverse wire and ground it gets 12v when I put the car in reverse. Looks like I need a 12v signal.
I tried plugging it in to the 6v camera power pin. This seems to work ok. It intermittently decides not to work. Usually this is in nav mode. I haven't test driven it yet but will in about an hour. Last edited by robot; 10-14-2013 at 01:03 PM. |
