I have found you spend almost the same amount in supporting mods on a turbo as the turbo itself, particularly if you don't do the labor yourself. Also, some of the components in these kits aren't going to last longer than 10k miles--melt, break, etc.

Clutch, gauges, oil cooler, ecutek cable and license are all expenses most people overlook and can cost half the price of the FI kit.

Gauges - Use a OBD2 scanner instead. You don't need a boost gauge; you'll know if you're losing boost. Ecutek/cable/license - Included in the CARB kits for $5k or so. Oil cooler - typically the only other major cost, if you get a setup that includes a tune. |

@CSG Mike - I don't want to go totally off topic, so this is directly just towards you. I currently have the OFT, if I were to go with a supercharger, and I got custom tuning through Shiv, would that still work? It should right? Or is EcuTek mandatory despite the fact I am focusing on a DD spec.

If you guys want to play with a nitrous shot equivalent, that's fine by me. But this is a pretty interesting thread and I would love it to stay focused on getting to higher power at a "near to or better than OEM" level of drivability and longevity. |

You can get the greddy kit installed and tuned for about 6k but you won't have any addons that will be needed if you want to push the kit past it's advertised stats.

This thread would be more beneficial if the posts were from those who have done these FI builds with an itemized list like @tendogy has done.
