Sadly, I would need to put the rear seats back in if I wanted to be in STX or whatever. I'd feel dumb in whatever ridiculous race-prepped class that interior modifications would put me in...

Definitely excited for it! Just hope it's worth it.

Oh it will be. You're just gonna hate yourself for getting hooked.

Which group did sign up with?

Hooked on driving! It’s a bit pricey but sounds like it’s one of the better groups. Hoping it’ll be a good start point to get warmed up to track driving and then maybe I can do the 86challenge beginner class a few times.

Ya, they're on the pricey side, but definitely worth it for a first timer. Good coaching, good equipment (they give you in-ear receiver so you can hear your coach), very well organized and a catered lunch. Just focus on getting comfortable with the car and learning the line, speed will follow. Once you get comfortable with the car and traffic flow (seamless point-bys, etc) you'll be right at home at 86cup

I am a big fan of their series. It has helped me a lot over the years.

+1 for focusing exclusively on safety. Driving around a circuit looks deceptively simple when watching from the bleachers. In reality, it's a whole different animal than driving on public roads.

There's way more going on and even when taking a parade lap, it all comes at you pretty quickly because the environment and visual cues are all brand new.

And thanks to race sims those visuals are not new at all, the problem would be dealing with G-force and heat. In my case i catch a headache in few turns, specially on slamom
